Balance is not forced. It is achieved.
Unity brings people together, but flow gives that unity meaning. When things are allowed to move, balance naturally follows.
The real strength lies in creating connection while allowing freedom. You are already bringing people together effectively. The next step is to let them flow.
Movement keeps systems alive. What flows stays clear. What is stagnant gathers resistance.
Do not confine. Do not restrict. Keep it moving.

During a week in Jodhpur for the RSP module, students surveyed vernacular and contemporary responses to climate, community, and materiality. We began in the local markets, observing how modern lifestyles are woven into traditional fabric, then moved through key sites—Mehrangarh Fort, Umed Bhawan, Jaswant Thada, and the Nokha village community center—to study spatial organization, solar orientation, and wind strategies.Across sites, community‑centric design—courtyards, shared public spaces, clock tower - emerged as a constant, showing how social life and climate strategies are integrated.
Hands‑on study of sandstone - from Mehrangarh’s carvings to Nokha’s minimal interventions—alongside visits to a factory, revealed both historic craftsmanship and modern cutting techniques. Field observations and material examinations (mud, stone, thatch, lime plaster) highlighted vernacular techniques that produce naturally cooler interiors despite extreme heat and prevailing loo winds. The trip reinforced how climate, community, and materiality shape spaces. The lessons learned will be implemented in future design projects, aiming to be both contextually rooted and environmentally responsive.
Draping is a fundamental garment development technique where fabric is shaped, pinned, and manipulated directly on a dress form to create silhouettes and understand fit in three dimensions.
As part of their learning journey, our Apparel Design students are developing hands-on skills in form, volume, balance, and garment construction through this process.
This practice helps transform design concepts into wearable forms while strengthening technical and creative thinking.

Industry Visit to Rajkot: Bridging Craft, Design & Technology
The Jewellery & Accessory Department organized an educational visit to Rajkot, offering students exposure to jewellery manufacturing and industrial processes.
We visited Yug Exports and Tanvi Gold, where students understood the complete production cycle from CAD/CAM and casting to stone setting and finishing along with insights into modern manufacturing techniques.
The experience also highlighted the region’s craft heritage, helping students connect classroom learning with real-world applications.
Observe the SKY, an infinite canvas to imagine.

Day 02 at JOT Talk 2025
Shirley Bhatnagar brought a fresh lens to design, where materials speak, craft evolves, and stories take shape through form.
Her session was deeply inspiring, sparking curiosity, exploration, and new ways of seeing design beyond the obvious.
A thoughtful close to two powerful days.
