Observance of the 12th International Day of Yoga – District Anantnag
The 12th International Day of Yoga was observed with great enthusiasm, zeal, and active participation across almost all Zonal Headquarters, Higher Secondary Schools, High Schools, and Middle Schools of District Anantnag.
The district-level main event was organized at Sports Stadium Anantnag, where the worthy Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, along with senior officers of the District Administration, officers of J&K Police, participants from all line departments, educators, students, and members of the public, participated in the mass yoga session and graced the occasion.
The observance highlighted the transformative power of yoga in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, emotional balance, and a healthy lifestyle. The enthusiastic participation of students and teachers across the district reflected a collective commitment towards building a healthier, disciplined, and stress-free society.
On this significant occasion, all participants reaffirmed the message that “Yoga is not merely an exercise; it is a way of life that nurtures harmony between body, mind, and spirit.”

WHOLE SCHOOL SAFETY PROGRAMME STRENGTHENS AWARENESS AND RESILIENCE AMONG STUDENTS IN SHANGUS
Anantnag, 17th June 2026: In its continued endeavour to foster safe, secure, inclusive, and child-friendly learning environments, the Cultural Education Wing, Chief Education Office Anantnag, successfully conducted two comprehensive Awareness Sessions under the Whole School Safety Programme at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Nowgam, Shangus and Government Middle School Pahloo, Shangus.
The first session was held at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Nowgam during the first half of the day, followed by the second session at Govt. Middle School Pahloo in the afternoon. Both programmes witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and other stakeholders, reflecting the growing commitment towards school safety and student well-being.
The awareness sessions were facilitated by Mr. Mohammad Akram, DNO, Whole School Safety Programme, who sensitized participants on a range of critical issues including Child Protection, Online Safety, Mental Health and Emotional Well-being, Disaster Preparedness and Response, Drug Abuse Prevention, and Adolescent Behavioural Management.
At Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Nowgam, the programme was formally inaugurated by the Principal of the institution, who appreciated the initiative and highlighted the importance of equipping students with life-saving knowledge and protective skills in today's rapidly changing world.
Through interactive discussions, real-life examples, and participatory activities, students were encouraged to develop informed decision-making abilities, adopt responsible behaviour, and actively contribute towards building a culture of safety, respect, resilience, and mutual care within their schools and communities.
The sessions concluded with a collective pledge by all participants to uphold the values of safety, discipline, dignity, and social responsibility, reaffirming their commitment to creating educational institutions where every child feels protected, empowered, and valued.
