At the Third Annual Sustainability Leadership Summit, the Centre for Sustainable Development (CSD) had the honour of presenting the Sustainability Leadership Award to 𝐒𝐡𝐫𝐢 𝐔𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐚 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐲, 𝐈𝐀𝐒 (𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐝.), in recognition of his exemplary contributions to India’s sustainability and renewable energy sector.

Shri Upendra Tripathy, the first and founding Director General of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), has been a pioneering force in advancing clean energy transitions both in India and globally. As Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (2014–2016), he spearheaded India’s ambitious 175 GW renewable energy mission, driving transformative policies and institutional innovations that continue to shape the sector today. A recipient of the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration (2009) for transforming Bengaluru’s transport system, Shri Tripathy has also been honoured with the CBIP Award and the Enertia Lifetime Achievement Award (2016) for his outstanding contributions to renewable energy.

CSD is privileged to recognize such an inspiring leader whose vision and dedication continue to accelerate India’s journey towards a sustainable and net-zero future.
