Holi festival for students is spending the day smearing colored powder all over each other's faces, throwing colored water at each other, having parties.
The emphasis of Holi rituals is on the burning of demoness Holika. On the eve of Holi, large bonfires are lit to mark occasion. This is known as Holika Dahan. As well as performing a specialpuja, people sing and dance around the fire, and walk around it three times.
The burning of Holika is mentioned in the Hindu text, the Narada Purana. Apparently, Holika's brother demon King Hiranyakashyap instructed her to burn his son, Prahlad, because he followed Lord Vishnu and didn't worship him. Holika sat with Prahlad in her lap, in the burning fire, because it was thought that no fire could harm her. However, due to his devotion to Lord Vishnu who protected him, Prahlad survived and Holika was charred to death.

GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP TURNING PLASTIC WASTE TO WEALTH –

“Karnataka State Government issued a gazette notification imposing a complete ban on plastic across the state”.

By banning plastic more than one lakh people loose their livelihood based on the published study.

The problem is not the “plastic” but the “plastic waste management”.

Specially the Plastic shopping or carrier bags are one of the main sources of plastic waste in our country. Plastic bags of all sizes and colours dot the city‘s landscape due to the problems of misuse and overuse and littering in India. Besides the visual pollution, plastic bag wastes contribute to blockage of drains and gutters, are a threat to aquatic life when they find their way to water bodies, and can cause livestock deaths when the livestock consume them. Furthermore, when filled with rainwater, plastic bags become breeding grounds for mosquitoes, which cause diseases like malaria and Dengue.

There are many cases reported on a daily basis, made the common man feel guilty of using and throwing the plastics. At the same time we all are so much accustomed to use this material in our daily life, the alternate to plastics are not so convenient and does not give that feel good factor.

Instead of banning this useful product, we need to discipline ourselves in safe disposal techniques. We have technologies like plastic to fuel, many engineering firms proved this by producing clean fuel with waste plastic.

Government on one side wants to create more jobs and on the other side make people jobless. By banning plastic more than one lakh people loose their livelihood.

We should convince the Government to encourage ventures which can dispose plastic waste and turn them to wealth instead of banning the plastic. - I B M T Entrepreneurship Cell

IBMT SUPPORTS SUSTAINABLE LIVES-

Sanitary napkins are the boon for ladies. As a lady, my sincere thanks to the persons brought out the sanitary napkin as a product. Even today, a huge percentage of female population in India are deprived of getting this facility. We the privileged few should Hygienically dispose the used napkins and it is our responsibility otherwise, we never know, Govt. may ban this as well like ban on plastic.

India has 355 million menstruating women
About 12% of them use sanitary napkins
An urban women uses 16800 napkins in her life time

Thanks to Nisha Nazre, founder of Zuci Fem Care solutions came out with a eco friendly sanitary napkin incinerators fitted with activated carbon filter. We must encourage such ventures in large number.
