We are quite happy to announce that 'Palimpsest - Essays on buildings of Bangalore from the Adaptive Re-use elective batch of 2019' edited by Ar. Pooja Ugrani, Asst. Professor at Acharya's NRV School of Architecture was released on the Graduation Day held on 18th January 2021.
Over 31 students of ANRVSA authored essays in the book (group photographs with the authors attached) and four out of ten essays in the book were also published in an online e-magazine, Bengaluru Review. This is the first book to have received an ISBN number at ANRVSA.
Book abstract:
This book is a collection of essays about ten buildings of Bangalore that have been transformed and adapted to re-use through changing times. It emerged from the Adaptive Re-use of the Built Environment elective studio for the 8th semester students of the Acharya’s NRV School of Architecture, Bangalore conducted by Ar. Pooja Ugrani. The essays, written collectively by student authors, document changes, both architectural and otherwise and conclude with derived insights on the practice of adaptive re-use of the built environment in the urban context thus placing the discussion in the larger context.

An essay written by Deeksha GM, Varshini Gopal, Merina Benny and Ananya S, final year students at Acharya’s NRV School of Architecture, Bengaluru for the elective titled Adaptive Reuse of the built environment, conducted by Pooja Ugrani in 2019 has been published in the December 2020 issue of the online magazine, Bengaluru Review.
The elective focused on documenting and finding out more about how some of Bangalore's most eminent and interesting structures transformed themselves to survive through changing times.
This is the fourth one out of 10 essays compiled together in an ISBN numbered book titled 'PALIMPSEST : essays on buildings of Bangalore from the Adaptive Re-use elective of 2019' that will be released shortly.
The previous published essays include 'Cinnamon' by Anushka K, Suhas R, Tejaswini C, 'Bimba: the Art Ashram: by Sannuthi R, Katta Pavitra, Nithin, 'Samsung Opera House' by Aveline Thomas, Tijo Tome, Qamar M, Jeenus S, K Sanidhya.
