Q***r Campus Bangalore categorically expresses dissent against the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill, 2019 Bill that has passed both houses of Parliament.

As a group that seeks to safeguard and uphold the rights of q***r youth, we feel that it is our duty to be vocal against a piece of legislation that will hurt trans people now and in the future.

We hope that this extremely transphobic piece of legislature will not become law.

In the meantime, if any young trans folks are feeling scared, threatened, or alone, please know that we are here and are always in support of you. Please reach out to us.

Yours,
In Solidarity,
Now and Forever

Hey all,

In light of recent events, we regret to say that the Carnival will not be taking place on 09/11/2019 as planned. We have planned to postpone it and the date of the Carnival will be announced soon.

We feel that this is the right decision to make given the current scenario, keeping in mind the safety of the organisers and the attendees of the event, but also the political sensitivity of the situation.

As an organisation that is a safe space for people of marginalised identities, we feel strongly that we need to stand in solidarity with the communities that will be affected by the Supreme Court Judgement likely to be delivered on 09/11/2019. We feel that a celebratory event in the event of such developments displays great insensitivity.

Q***r Campus also wants to ensure the safety of the people who identify with the space, most of whom are q***r youth.

It is for these reasons that the Q***r Carnival will not take place as scheduled. We understand that a lot of you have invested considerably in this event, and would like to extend a heartfelt apology to you for this sudden turn of events. We will be available on our page, Instagram handle, and email to address your concerns.

We hope that you will understand the reason for this decision, and that you will join us in showing solidarity with the marginalised communities that are likely to face the repercussions of the upcoming verdict.

Please do share this widely.
