NSS Department of DAV College, Bathinda Celebrates International Yoga Day
The Department of NSS, DAV College, Bathinda celebrated International Yoga Day on 21-06-2026 in the morning in the college premises with great enthusiasm. The theme of the event was “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”
The session was guided by distinguished guests Dalip Kumar Nandan, Senior XEN (Retired), along with Ms. Lovepreet Kaur, Ms. Kirna Rani, and Mr. Jashandeep Singh. The experts demonstrated various yoga asanas and explained their benefits for physical and mental well-being, especially for healthy ageing.
The program was organized under the leadership of NSS Coordinators Prof. Amit Kumar Singla, Dr. Prabhjot Kaur, and Prof. Rajesh Batra. NSS volunteers participated actively and performed asanas with full zeal.
Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma appreciated the efforts of the NSS department and said that yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition that promotes harmony of body and mind. He encouraged students to make yoga a part of their daily routine.
The event concluded with a pledge to adopt a healthy lifestyle and spread awareness about yoga in society.

NCC Unit of DAV College, Bathinda Organises Cycling Drive on World Bicycle Day under Fit India Movement
The NCC Unit of DAV College, Bathinda, organized a Cycling Drive on the occasion of World Bicycle Day under the aegis of the Fit India Movement. The event aimed to promote physical fitness, environmental sustainability, and the adoption of healthy lifestyles among students and the community.
A large number of NCC cadets enthusiastically participated in the drive, cycling through designated routes while spreading awareness about the importance of regular exercise and eco-friendly modes of transportation. The rally highlighted the benefits of cycling as an economical, sustainable, and health-promoting activity.
ANO Lt. Munish Kumar encouraged the cadets to embrace fitness as a way of life and contribute towards a cleaner environment.
The Principal of DAV College Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma appreciated the efforts of the NCC Unit and the cadets for their active participation. He emphasized that such initiatives not only enhance physical well-being but also instill discipline, responsibility, and social awareness among students.

DAV College Bathinda Organises Birds Habitat Conservation Initiative, Compost Distribution Campaign and Seed Display Exhibition
To mark the observance of International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) and World Environment Day (WED)-2026, DAV college Bathinda organized bird nest mounting drive, compost distribution campaign and seed display exhibition on June 5, 2026 to promote biodiversity conservation and create a bird-friendly environment, sustainable environmental practices and ecological awareness. The initiative was undertaken by the Eco Club with active participation of faculty members, gardeners and general public.
During the bird nest mounting drive, eco-friendly bird nests were installed on selected trees across the campus to provide safe nesting spaces for local bird species and support urban biodiversity. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of protecting wildlife habitats and maintaining ecological balance. Participants were informed about the role of birds in ecosystems, including seed dispersal, pollination and pest control, and the need to conserve their natural habitats.
A compost distribution drive was also conducted, during which organic compost produced from biodegradable waste was distributed to faculty members. Participants were encouraged to use the compost for gardening and tree plantation activities, promoting waste recycling and sustainable soil management.
The event further featured a seed display exhibition showcasing a variety of native tree, medicinal plant, vegetable, and flower seeds. Informative displays educated visitors about the significance of seed conservation, native plant species and their role in maintaining healthy ecosystems and biodiversity.
Addressing the gathering, the Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma emphasized the collective responsibility of educational institutions in fostering environmental stewardship and biodiversity conservation. Faculty members highlighted how simple conservation actions can contribute significantly to safeguarding urban wildlife and enhancing biodiversity on educational campuses.
