Important Events during Srimad Andavan Srivaraha Mahadesikan's Vijaya Yatra in June-July 2026

For the past 25 years, Ashramam has been recognizing and felicitating distinguished vidwans and artists for their contributions to Carnatic music. This tradition was initiated by Srimushnam Andavan and is being continued by Srimad Andavan Srivaraha Mahadesikan.

It is customary to honor music vidwans at the venue where the Thirunakshatram is celebrated. In 2026, during the celebrations in Mumbai, Srimad Andavan conferred the following titles on leading Carnatic musicians:

Vid. Lakshmi Rajagopalan – Gaayaka Kalaanidhi
Vid. Mangala Vaidyanathan – Sunaada Kalaanidhi
Vid. Rohit Prasad – Sulaya Kalaanidhi

The award ceremony was followed by a concert by the award recipients.

Thirunakshatram of Srimad Periandavan

Today is Masi Pushyam, the Thirunakshatram of the 3rd Peetadhipathi of Srirangam Srimad Andavan Ashramam, Srimad Periandavan Sri Srinivasa Mahadesikan, whose thaniyan is given below:

ṣrī rañgeśa-pade samarpita-bharaṁ śrutyanta rāmānuja
ṣrī yogīndra guruttamena yaminaś-śrutyanta-vidyātmanaḥ
prāpta-śrutya-vatamsa yugma-hṛdayaṁ śrīvāsa-rāmānujāt
ṣrī ṣrīvāsa munīndra deśika maṇiṁ śreyo nidhiṁ samśraye

“I seek refuge under Srimad Srinivasa Mahadesikan (Periandavan) who is a treasure-house of sreyas (spiritual opulence); who undertook his bhara-samarpanam (ritual surrender) at the divine lotus feet of the Supreme Lord, Sri Ranganatha by the grace of Srimad Vazhuthur Andavan Sri Vedanta Ramanuja Mahadesikan; and who skillfully acquired the esoteric knowledge of ubhaya-vedanta from Srimad Thiruthuraipoondi Andavan Sri Srinivasa Ramanuja Mahadesikan, in whose heart reside the personification of the Vedas.”

Today is the Varshika Kainkaryam of the 5th Peetadhipathi of Srirangam Srimad Andavan Ashramam, Srimad Kadanthethi Andavan Sri Srinivasa Ramanuja Mahadesikan. Srimad Kadanthethi Andavan departed to adorn thirunaadu in 1909, corresponding to the tithi (lunar day) of Krishna-Paksha Dwadashi in the Tamil month of Masi of the sasti-samvatsara year of Kilaka.
