India Vision Institute (IVI) is a not-for-profit nongovernmental organization (NGO) with the vision to Augment Primary Eye Care Capacity of India.

This we do by providing
access to primary eye care for underprivileged and rural Indians and through advancing the optometry sector, awareness generation, capacity building, advocacy, and leadership development. IVI Brings Clear Vision to Dharavi:

As part of an IVI vision screening campaign in Dharavi today, beneficiaries received spectacles from Paul Murphy, Australia’s Consul-General in Mumbai, and Marius De Beer, Chief Sustainability Officer, HOYA Vision Care & Hoya Surgical Optics.

Advisory Committee; Malini Dutt, Trade and Investment Commissioner, India, Investment NSW; Dr Vivek Mendonsa, Founder Trustee, Mendonsa Foundation; Andreea Ioana Neagu, Global Sustainability Manager, Hoya Vision Care; and Bhupesh Banodkar, General Manager, Hoya Lens India Pvt. Ltd., were among those present.

We thank HOYA Vision Care for supporting the initiative, and Mendonsa Foundation for its collaboration. Through sustained community-based screenings, the campaign will benefit over 1,000 people, including workers, elderly residents and families, by providing spectacles and referrals where required, helping them work, move and live with greater ease and confidence.

This recognition reflects IVI’s work across 25 states in India, benefiting over 2 million people through access to primary eye care and corrective spectacles.

Silent Damage: The Overlooked Link Between Hypertension and Eye Health.

India Vision Institute successfully hosted this important panel discussion on 16 May 2026, bringing together over 50 healthcare professionals, optometrists, students, and public health stakeholders.

The session featured as panelists Dr. Narsingh Verma, Dr. Priyadharshini Sureshkumar and Mr. Mohammed Gowth, who highlighted the role of routine eye examinations, community screening, telemedicine, and integrated healthcare in supporting early detection of hypertension.

The session was also livecast on IVI’s page. It was co-hosted with Optician India.
