Measure the Earth from Home!
Ever wondered how ancient astronomers figured out the size of our planet without satellites or GPS? More than 2,000 years ago, Eratosthenes did it using just sunlight, shadows, and simple geometry—and now it’s your turn!
SPACE India is hosting Project Paridhi, a flagship DIY workshop designed to introduce students from Classes 5 to 12 to the fundamentals of scientific observation and data analysis. Participants will learn how to estimate the Earth’s circumference using simple everyday items like a gnomon (stick/ruler) and the sun’s shadow, blending history, mathematics, and astronomy into an experiential learning session.
Date: June 20, 2026
Time: 11:00 AM – 01:00 PM
Mode: Online
No fancy equipment needed—just a ruler, a stick, and your curiosity. Let's celebrate the Summer Solstice with hands-on science!

Curiosity launched. Creativity ignited. Young minds explored the universe! ✨
SPACE India successfully conducted an exciting Summer Camp at Victoria School CBSE from May 4th–9th, transforming classrooms into vibrant hubs of space exploration, innovation and hands-on STEM learning.
Students from Grades 1–5 stepped into the fascinating world of rockets, propulsion, satellites, the Sun, Moon and planets through engaging activities, rocket launch experiments, and evening sky observation sessions. They discovered how satellites help us communicate, navigate and understand our planet better while exploring the wonders of our Solar System 🌍☀️
Meanwhile, students from Grades 6 & above explored advanced STEM concepts through Hydrobot experiments, lunar settlement model making, safe solar observation, and exciting sessions on reflection, refraction, telescopes, and microscopes 🔭✨ During the special “World with the Sky” observation session, students also witnessed Jupiter and Venus shining brilliantly in the evening sky.
With around 24 enthusiastic participants, the camp became a wonderful blend of learning, teamwork, creativity, and discovery. The excitement in students’ eyes and the encouraging feedback from parents and teachers made the experience truly memorable 💫
The universe was not just observed - it was experienced. 🌠

Skylab was far more than just a spacecraft. It became a home, a science laboratory and a symbol of human determination beyond Earth.
Astronauts aboard Skylab conducted hundreds of experiments related to:
☀️ Solar activity and sunspots
🌍 Earth observation and environmental studies
🧪 Microgravity and human biology
👨🚀 Long-duration human spaceflight
The station also made history with the first major in-space repair mission after launch damage threatened the entire program. Astronauts successfully repaired Skylab in orbit, proving that humans could solve complex problems even in space. 🔧✨
During its missions, astronauts spent up to 84 days in orbit, a remarkable achievement at that time - helping scientists understand how the human body adapts to life in space. The lessons learned from Skylab later helped shape future programs including the International Space Station.
More than five decades later, Skylab remains one of the most important milestones in space history - a bold experiment that paved the way for humanity’s continued journey into the cosmos. 🌠

Srinivasa Ramanujan remains one of the greatest mathematical minds the world has ever known. With little formal training but extraordinary intuition, he discovered complex formulas that continue to influence modern mathematics even today. 📐✨
Raised in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, Ramanujan showed an early fascination with numbers, often working out intricate equations purely from intuition. Despite financial hardships and limited access to academic resources, his passion for mathematics never faded. His life took a historic turn when his letters reached British mathematician G. H. Hardy, leading him to Cambridge University—where his genius finally received global recognition.
Ramanujan made remarkable contributions to number theory, infinite series, continued fractions, and mathematical analysis. Many of his ideas were far ahead of their time, with several discoveries finding applications decades later in science, computing, and physics.
Though his life was tragically short, his legacy is eternal. Ramanujan’s journey reminds us that brilliance can emerge from the humblest beginnings and that curiosity, perseverance, and belief in one’s passion can change the course of human knowledge. 🌟
Remembering the man who taught the world that mathematics is not just numbers—but imagination.
