Beginning from Agoda, the students trekked through dense forest trails to Manjhi before making the uphill climb to the serene Dodital Lake, surrounded by pristine forests and breathtaking mountain views. Along the way, they learnt about the region’s cultural and ecological significance through stories shared by their guide, while evenings at the campsite fostered reflection, bonding and a deeper connection with nature.

Despite challenging weather conditions, the group completed the trek with determination and enthusiasm, even spotting the vibrant Himalayan Monal during the descent. The expedition proved to be a rewarding experience that strengthened confidence, endurance and environmental awareness while nurturing a true spirit of adventure.

Set amidst the scenic landscapes of Uttarakhand, the expedition offered students an opportunity to experience adventure, teamwork and the challenges of mountain trekking.

The climb to Tungnath tested the students’ endurance and determination while rewarding them with breathtaking Himalayan views. The visit to Deoria Tal, with its crystal-clear waters reflecting the Chaukhamba peaks, gave students moments of quiet reflection and a deeper appreciation for nature and environmental conservation.

Throughout the trek, the students displayed resilience, discipline and strong team spirit, stepping out of their comfort zones and embracing every challenge with enthusiasm. The expedition proved to be a memorable journey of adventure, personal growth and outdoor learning.

The expedition challenged students through activities such as trekking, tree jumaring, rock climbing, tent pitching, wilderness cooking, shelter making and rescue training. The 5 km Garh Virat Trek to the sunset point and the trek to the rock-climbing site tested their endurance, resilience and teamwork, especially under demanding outdoor conditions.

Through survival exercises, orientation challenges and team-building activities, students developed confidence, leadership and problem-solving skills while also learning the importance of environmental responsibility through the principle of Leave No Trace (LNT).

The expedition proved to be a rewarding experience that encouraged independence, perseverance and a true spirit of adventure.

From the foothills of Dehradun to the heart of Kolkata, the Welham bond needs no particular occasion to resurface.

The Kolkata alumnae gathering brought together former students from across generations for an evening of warmth, recollection and the easy familiarity that tends to define Welham reunions. Conversations flowed, decades collapsed, and the school that shaped them all was never far from the room. Principal Ms. Vibha Kapoor spent time with the gathering, speaking with alumnae and former staff alike.

A highlight of the evening was the presence of Ms. Mala Dutt, beloved English teacher and a name that resonates deeply across generations of Welhamites. In her classroom, students discovered the true power of language. She pushed them to read deeply, write honestly and find their voices, which led many students to getting their words published in the school magazine for the first time. Her presence added a dimension to the evening that no amount of planning could have arranged.

Welham Girls' School looks forward to many more such gatherings, and to the conversations they invariably bring with them.

The Shri Vasudev Rao Inter House Music and Dance Competition 2026 concluded with an exceptional showcase of dance, and the standard set by the performers was difficult to follow.

Students took to the stage across three traditions, with an inter-house folk dance competition before moving into Kathak and Bharatnatyam. The two classical performances that closed the event drew the two-day competition to a fitting end, each one reflecting the years of training and discipline that classical dance demands of those who pursue it seriously.

Here are some of the best moments captured during the performances.

Six competitions. One stage. And an evening that reminded everyone why music at Welham is taken as seriously as it is.

The Shri Vasudev Rao Inter House Music and Dance Competition 2026 brought together some of the school's finest performers across tabla, sitar, vocal duet, band, a ca****la and Indian classical group song.

Each competition asked something different of its participants, and the standard across the evening reflected the hours of practice that go unseen before a performance like this.

The carousel has the highlights. Some moments are better watched than described.
