Fun time with three Boards of Chess, Ludo & Carrom at the Sports Development Centre, PVS.
Three disciplines. One lesson as we believe that mind grows when it plays.
Chess:- “The University in 64 Squares” as it teaches foresight, because one impulsive pawn can undo an hour of thought. It teaches consequence, because the board remembers every move we failed to make.
It builds Character,
Patience & life skills as we learn to sit with uncertainty, to plan in silence, to lose a battle and still win the war.
Ludo:- “ The Philosophy of Dice”
It teaches arithmetic without chalk and, the art of waiting for our turn. It also teaches
that luck enters every life, but skill decides what to do when it arrives.
The Ludo teaches handling
unfairness with grace and it is best game for our young ones as it develops Social bonding, emotional resilience and basic maths.
Carrom:- A “ Geometry on a Wooden Sea” and is like a
physics at the fingertips. Angle, force, friction, rebound - all learned in a go. It trains hand-eye harmony and a calmness of breath.
The striker teaches restraint. Too much force and we foul. Too little and nothing moves. The queen teaches priority: win the board, but not before you secure what matters.
Precision under pressure. Focus in noise. The dignity of sinking our opponent’s coin because it was the right shot.
At Prakriti Valley School we have kept the three boards as a part of curriculum . One to train the mind , one to soften the heart and one to steady the hand.
That is how we stay “ High on Happiness.”
