Delhi Technological University Celebrates International Day of Yoga 2026
Delhi Technological University celebrated International Day of Yoga 2026 with great enthusiasm at the Administrative Block Lawn. The event brought together students, faculty members, staff, and members of the university community to promote physical fitness, mental well-being, and a healthy lifestyle through the practice of yoga.
The programme commenced with welcoming remarks by Prof. Mini Sreejeth, who highlighted the significance of yoga as an invaluable part of Indiaโs cultural heritage.
A major highlight of the event was the live telecast of the address by the Honโble Prime Minister of India, who underscored the transformative role of yoga in fostering individual well-being, social harmony, and a balanced way of life. Following the address, participants enthusiastically performed the Common Yoga Protocol under expert guidance, engaging in a series of yogic postures, breathing exercises, and meditation practices. The celebration was further enriched by a Yoga Nritya presentation that beautifully blended artistic expression with the essence of yoga.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Prateek Sharma encouraged participants to embrace yoga as an integral part of their daily routine and emphasized its role in cultivating a healthy, disciplined, and productive lifestyle. The Chief Guest, Prof. Rajesh Sagar of AIIMS, New Delhi, delivered an insightful talk on the positive impact of yoga on mental health and emotional well-being. He highlighted its importance in reducing stress, enhancing resilience, and improving overall quality of life in todayโs fast-paced world.
Another notable feature of the celebration was the Yogasana Competition award ceremony, where winners were felicitated for their outstanding performances. Certificates were also distributed to students who successfully completed the Certificate Course in Yoga and Wellness.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Vikas Gupta, who expressed gratitude to the distinguished guests, participants, organizers, and volunteers for their contributions to the successful conduct of the event.
By bringing together the university community in the spirit of yoga, the event reinforced the importance of harmony, mindfulness, and well-being in everyday life.
