On May 14 2026, SRCC organized a unique event-The Convocation of the Inaugural Graduating Batch of SRCC under DU's UGCF based on the NEP 2020.
This event is of particular historical significance. First, it is after 93 years that an additional year has been added to the SRCC's Undergraduate programmes. About 93 years ago, in the Academic Year 1932-1933, SRCC (then the Commercial College) was permitted by the University of Delhi to introduce a three-year degree programme. Then, the College had transitioned from a two-year intermediate course to a three-year degree course. At that time, 16 of 32 students had opted for the Third Year. Drawing parallels, the Fourth Year under the UGCF has been introduced for the first time in the Academic Year 2025-26, with 201 out of 1100 students opting for the fourth year.
Second, the event is special as it coincides with the SRCC Centenary Year celebrating 100 Years of Excellence.
The Inaugural Graduating Batch, admitted in Academic Year 2022-23, is unique in the chronicles of SRCC. It is the 1st Batch:
-to be admitted under the Common University Entrance Exam.
-under the New National Education Policy 2020
-to have the choice for the fourth year
- to undertake formal research, academic projects, and entrepreneurships at the College level
- to study in the SRCC in the lead-up to and during the Centenary.
