It takes an extraordinary mind and a deeply disciplined soul to master a single musical tradition—but to stand at the summit of two entirely different musical worlds is nothing short of legendary.
This is the artistry of Mrs. Rama Chobhe, Pune’s treasured violin virtuoso and educator.
A Master of Dual Worlds & Global Benchmarks….
Mrs. Rama Choube is a rare bimusical virtuoso, possessing a unique musical polyglotism that allows her to switch seamlessly between the rigid architecture of Western classical and the soulful fluidness of Hindustani raagas.
Her mastery of Western pedagogy is brilliantly reflected in her students' achievements. She trains her young musicians for the globally renowned ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) exams, maintaining a truly staggering track record: each and every one of her students secures a Distinction or a high Merit. This flawless success rate is a testament to her meticulous training, high standards, and unique ability to bring out the absolute best in every student.
Yet, with that very same instrument, she transforms into a maestro of Hindustani Classical music. She captures the soul-stirring nuances of the gayaki ang (vocal style), the intricate taans, and the profound spiritual depth of Indian raagas. To seamlessly shift from the structured architecture of a Western sonata to the fluid, soulful improvisation of a Hindustani raaga requires a genius level of musical literacy. She doesn't just play two genres; she speaks both languages with absolute fluency.
A Beacon of Musical Education in Pune
Beyond her brilliance as a performer, Mrs. Chobhe is a foundational pillar of Pune's rich cultural fabric. As a teacher, she is a nurturing yet transformative force. By bridging the gap between global Western standards and the rich traditions of the East, she instills in her students not just technical perfection, but a deep, holistic respect for world music.
“To learn from Mrs. Rama Chobhe is to witness a rare perfection. From achieving the highest global distinctions to exploring the depths of Indian classical heritage, she teaches her students to play with absolute devotion to the craft."
Pune is incredibly fortunate to have a maestro of her caliber guiding its cultural future—a true custodian of melody, discipline, and flawless artistic brilliance.

We were incredibly privileged and honoured to represent ABRSM at the 5th ISME South Asia Regional Conference held in Bengaluru.
During the conference, Ms. Sonia Khan had the opportunity to deliver a presentation on "Music Education and Sustainability," exploring how we can evolve traditional assessments into digital-first, resource-respectful practices while simultaneously making our in-person performances, physical exams, and main regional hubs stronger to build a truly resilient, long-term ecosystem.
A true highlight of the conference was having the event graced by the outgoing President of ISME, Prof. Bo Wah Leung, whose presence and insights added immense value to the deliberations.
Reflecting on this three-day event, we feel deeply inspired. The energy at the event was truly global. We had the privilege of attending presentations from outstanding speakers, policy makers, educationalists from esteemed institutes and universities across India, as well as delegates and organizations representing Sri Lanka, Nepal, Finland, and Italy.
The discussions made one thing abundantly clear: we must work collectively and strategically to bring quality music and education into the mainstream of the Indian Education System; besides bridging cultures and bringing together people from all walks of life through the magical power of music.
We also witnessed some mesmerising performances by the Laya Ranjani Percussion Ensemble curated by G S Nagaraj, the Kutumba Group from Nepal, Nrutya School of Art, BSM Chorale and the BSM Jazz Orchestra and The Harmony Chorus.
We are specially grateful to our hosts, The Bangalore School of Music — Mr. Vikram Sunderlal and Ms. Rebecca Thomas Colaco, and our wonderful organizers, Ms. Sandra Oberoi and Ms. Shree Lakshmi Vaidyanathan, for their incredible support and dedication in executing such a monumental event. Thank you to everyone who made this conference a milestone journey toward sustainable musical growth in South Asia!
We at ABRSM are delighted to partner with Pathways World School, Gurugram.
Looking forward to a fruitful and progressive journey with them.

What a historic and harmonious evening! We are still beaming with pride after witnessing the incredible talent on display at the very first ABRSM High Scorers’ Concert held right here in Mokokchung, Nagaland.

This milestone event would not have been possible without the vision and dedication of our ABRSM India Coordinator, Ms. Sentijungla Longchar. We extend our deepest gratitude to her for her tireless efforts in organizing such a wonderful showcase. Bringing this platform to Mokokchung for the first time is a gift to our local musical community, and we are so grateful for her leadership.
To Our Stellar Performers
To the students who took the stage: you were magnificent. It takes more than just skill to stand before an audience and perform—it takes courage, discipline, and a deep love for the craft. You are the rising stars of Nagaland’s musical legacy!

A high scorer is rarely made alone. To the parents in the audience: thank you. Thank you for the early morning practice sessions, the constant encouragement, and for investing in your children’s artistic journeys. Your unwavering support is the foundation upon which these young musicians stand. Seeing your pride and joy tonight was just as moving as the music itself.
