A significant step towards strengthening the innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad!

We are pleased to share that CIIE IIT (ISM) Dhanbad Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with "Head Held High Foundation" to advance the vision of the JAN AI Initiative and foster a more collaborative, innovation-driven culture within the IIT (ISM) Dhanbad ecosystem.

This partnership holds immense importance as it brings together the strengths of academia, industry, and social impact organizations to create meaningful opportunities for students, researchers, startups, and aspiring entrepreneurs. The collaboration is designed to promote a culture of continuous learning, innovation, problem-solving, and responsible technology adoption, particularly in the field of Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies.

Through this MoU, students will gain access to knowledge-sharing sessions, expert interactions, mentorship opportunities, skill development programs, industry exposure, and collaborative initiatives that extend beyond the campus boundaries. Such engagements will help bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world challenges while encouraging students to develop innovative solutions with societal impact.

More importantly, this association will contribute to strengthening the culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and interdisciplinary collaboration across IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. By creating stronger connections between stakeholders from academia, industry, startups, and the social sector, we aim to build a vibrant ecosystem where ideas can flourish, innovations can scale, and future leaders can emerge.

🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️ Walk for a Drug-Free Future 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️

As part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad organized a Walkathon to spread the message of a drug-free society and promote healthy living.

Students, staff members, and institute officials participated enthusiastically in the awareness walk, highlighting the harmful effects of drug addiction and the importance of making positive lifestyle choices. The walkathon served as a powerful reminder of our collective responsibility to create a healthier and addiction-free future.

Participants reaffirmed their commitment to staying away from drugs and motivating others to lead healthy, responsible, and productive lives. The programme concluded with a collective pledge to promote yoga, wellness, and a drug-free lifestyle, contributing to the vision of a stronger and healthier nation.

🧘‍♀️ Yoga for a Drug-Free Life 🧘‍♂️

As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad organized a special Yoga and Wellness Session on the theme:

"Eradication of Drug Addiction through Yoga and Wellness"

The session highlighted the role of yoga in fostering a healthy mind and body while helping individuals resist substance abuse and lead balanced lives. Participants actively practiced various yoga asanas and breathing exercises designed to enhance physical fitness, mental resilience, and emotional well-being.

The programme emphasized that adopting yoga as a way of life can serve as a powerful tool in preventing addiction and promoting a positive, disciplined, and healthy lifestyle among youth.

🚫 Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad 🚫

As part of the nationwide Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad organized an awareness and wellness programme with enthusiastic participation from students, staff members, and the institute community.

The programme began with the Nasha Mukt Bharat Pledge, where participants collectively resolved to stay away from drugs and spread awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse. The campaign aimed to inspire youth to embrace a healthy, responsible and addiction-free lifestyle and to become ambassadors of a drug-free society.

The event was attended by Prof. Sanjoy Mandal, Associate Dean, Student Activities (Students' Welfare), Dr. Anita Kumari, Physicial Education and Sports Officer, along with officials and staff members from the Dean Students' Welfare Office.

🚫 Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan 2026 🚫

IIT (ISM) Dhanbad joins the nationwide observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking through a series of awareness activities being organized from 17 June to 26 June 2026 under the theme:

“Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, Viksit Bharat ki Pehchaan”

As part of the campaign, an online mass pledge drive is being conducted across the campus through QR-code-enabled posters displayed in hostels and other prominent locations, encouraging students and staff to pledge their commitment towards a drug-free society.

The awareness initiative will also feature a range of engagement activities, including plantation drives, online poster-making, sports events, along with other outreach programmes aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles and strengthening collective responsibility against substance abuse.

Let us come together to spread awareness, inspire positive change, and contribute towards building a healthier, stronger and drug-free India.

IIT (ISM) Dhanbad continues to promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education among students from Project Affected Persons (PAP) families and underprivileged communities in BCCL operational areas through regular special classes conducted under a CSR initiative of BCCL.
Led by faculty members of the Department of Management Studies & Industrial Engineering, the programme focuses on strengthening scientific temper, conceptual understanding, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills through interactive and student-centric learning approaches.
Currently being implemented at DPLMA +2 High School, Nawagarh and H.S. Bhuli Nagar, the initiative reflects IIT (ISM)’s commitment to inclusive education, community outreach and empowering young minds through quality learning opportunities.

Promoting fitness, wellness, and healthy living among women, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad successfully organized a Women's Exclusive Step Aerobics & Wellness Program at the Student Activity Center (SAC).

The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from female students, staff members, and campus residents, who engaged in step aerobics training, fitness activities, mindfulness exercises, relaxation techniques, and wellness awareness sessions designed to encourage a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Anita Kumari, Physical Education & Sports Officer (PESO), IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, encouraged participants to make regular physical activity a part of their daily routine and prioritize both physical and mental well-being. She emphasized that such programs help create awareness about women’s health, stress management, fitness, and overall wellness.

The program highlighted the importance of healthy weight management, enhanced energy levels, improved fitness, stress reduction, and holistic well-being. The overwhelming response from participants reflected the growing enthusiasm for wellness-focused initiatives on campus.

🌱 Yuva Sangam Delegates Lead Plantation Drive at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad 🌱

As part of the concluding activities of Yuva Sangam Phase-VI, the 56-member youth delegation from Madhya Pradesh participated in a plantation drive at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, reinforcing the message of environmental responsibility and sustainable living.

The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from the delegates and was graced by Prof. Sanjoy Mandal, Associate Dean, Students' Activities (Students' Welfare), Mr. Mrityunjay Kumar Mangalam, Assistant Registrar, and Mr. Dhiraj Kumar, Horticulture Officer, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, along with coordinators from IIT Indore.

🧘‍♂️ International Day of Yoga 2026 celebrated at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad

IIT (ISM) Dhanbad celebrated the International Day of Yoga 2026 with great enthusiasm at the Gymkhana Ground, bringing together a large number of students, employees, dependents, and campus residents in a collective pursuit of health, harmony, and well-being.

The programme was graced by Prof. M.K. Singh, Dean (Academic); Prabodh Pandey, Registrar; Prof. Sanjoy Mandal, Associate Dean (Student Welfare–Student Activities); Dr. Anita Kumari, Sports Officer; Abhishek Basye, and other dignitaries.

A comprehensive yoga session was conducted by Ajay Kumar, Yoga Instructor, who guided participants through various yoga asanas and breathing exercises. The event also featured the prize distribution ceremony for winners of the Yoga Competition organized on 13 June 2026 as a lead-up activity to International Day of Yoga.
The programme was jointly anchored by Dr. Anita Kumari and Deeksha Patle.

🎓🇮🇳 Yuva Sangam Phase-VI Concludes at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad

The week-long Jharkhand visit of the 56-member youth delegation from Madhya Pradesh under Yuva Sangam Phase-VI concluded at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad with a valedictory function held at the Penman Auditorium.

During their stay, the delegates explored Jharkhand's rich cultural heritage, industrial strength, spiritual traditions and innovation ecosystem through visits to Maithon Dam, Bokaro Steel Plant, Baba Baidyanath Dham, Raj Bhavan Ranchi, NIAMT, Birsa Munda Museum, Parasnath Hills, Topchanchi Dam and the Innovation & AI-Robotics Centres of IIT (ISM).

The programme provided a unique platform for cultural exchange, knowledge sharing and people-to-people connect, reinforcing the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat and strengthening national integration among oyouth from different regions of the country.
