🧘‍♀️ Young yoga practitioners on the mat!

In the lead up to the International Day of Yoga, The Sports Board, IIT Guwahati hosted a Yogasana Competition for school students on 14th June 2026.

30+ students from nearby schools showcased stunning flexibility, focus, and dedication🔥

And helped the Institute make a small contribution towards building healthy habits in the next generation.

📅 IIT Guwahati will also mark the International Day of Yoga on 21st June 2026 with a common yoga session open to students, faculty, staff, and the wider community.

70 NCC cadets from the Combined Annual Training Camp visited IIT Guwahati from 09 to 12 June 2026.

As a part of the visit, they got a chance to see the campus and learn about the institute.

The Institute hopes that this visit will help and inspire them in their future studies and career.

Today, the CEEE Program on Data Science, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence at IIT Guwahati comes to a close.

Over the past two weeks, 63 engineering faculty members from across the country gathered on our campus for structured learning and expert mentoring with passionate educators.

This program was made possible through the joint efforts of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), Infosys Foundation, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and IIT Guwahati.

The learning doesn't end today. It continues in every lecture hall, every lab session, and every student these educators teach going forward. That is what this program was always about.

🌱 The early bird gets the sapling.

The first phase of the campus-wide tree plantation drive at IIT Guwahati has successfully concluded. Over two days, the community came together to plant ~200 saplings (Ashoka, Areca Palm, Bottle Palm, Neem, Amla, Pink Kanchan, Gulmohar, and Coconut) and ~200 Bougainvilleas — 400 new lives taking root across campus.

For nearly 15 years, this drive has been a World Environment Day tradition led by the Centre for the Environment (CEnv). This year marks a milestone: CEnv, now part of the School of Interdisciplinary Studies and Sustainability, is transforming it into a year-long, multi-phase campus-wide initiative.

But a plantation drive is only as meaningful as what comes after planting day. The Institute extends its heartfelt thanks to the members of the Horticulture and Maintenance Section who will ensure every single one of these saplings is nurtured and cared for, every day. Their commitment is what turns a day's effort into lasting green cover.

This is just phase one — the best is still growing.
