The Ethics Committee of Arya Vidyapeeth College (Autonomous), organised an Online Talk on "Research Ethics: Principles to Practice" on 15th June, 2026 at 7:30 pm. The programme was conducted with the objective of promoting awareness and understanding of ethical principles in research among students, scholars and faculty members.
The Resource Person was Prof. Jatin Sarmah, a distinguished academician and researcher, Department of Biotechnology, Bodoland University, Kokrajhar. In his lecture, Prof. Sarmah highlighted the fundamental principles of research ethics, emphasising integrity, honesty, transparency and respect for research participants. He discussed the ethical responsibilities of researchers and explained how ethical principles should be incorporated into every stage of the research process.
The programme witnessed active participation from faculty members, research scholars and students. It concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Convenor of the committee Dr. Gitanjali Hazarika. She expressed her sincere gratitude to Prof. Jatin Sarmah for sharing his expertise and valuable perspectives on research ethics.

An International Talk on “Weaving Unseen Threads into a Map of Quiet Roots” (মৌন শিপাৰ মানচিত্ৰত অদৃশ্য সূতাৰ অংকন)was organized by the Department of Education on 6th June 2026 at Conference Hall 3of the College from 11:00 a.m. onwards. The resource person for the talk was Ms. Bahana Saikia, Senior Service Designer, UK Civil Service, United Kingdom.

The programme commenced with an invocation song presented by second-semester students Alankar Sarmah and Sagarika Das. This was followed by the welcome address delivered by the Head of the Department, Dr. Rupmala Barman. A graceful Sattriya dance performance by second-semester student Haripriya Roy added cultural vibrancy to the event.

Ms. Bahana Saikia was felicitated by the respected Principal, Dr. Pradip Kr. Bhattacharyya and the Dean of Arts, Dr. Mousumi Borah with a gamusa, a bouquet of flowers, and a memento.

In her lecture, Ms. Saikia emphasized the importance of creating meaningful connections between community wisdom, innovation, public service, and sustainable development. She highlighted how these elements can work together to foster inclusive growth and positive social change.

The programme was also graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including Mr. Bharat Bhushan Deb Choudhury-former Chairman of APSC; Mr. Surjya Goswami,renowned musician; Mrinal Gogoi, Deputy Registrar of Srimanta Sankaradeva University; Ms. Nilima Das, retired Associate Professor of B. Borooah College. Several faculty members and a large number of students attended the programme and participated actively and enthusiastically.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Anuradha Barooah. The entire programme was beautifully anchored by Abhirupam Chetia, a fourth-semester student of the Department.

Eco club of Arya Vidyapeeth College (Autonomous) celebrated World Environment Day 2026 in a day long program on 5th June 2026. In the morning the club joined hand with Environment and Climate Cell of the College to observed "Ek payr Maa ki naam" initiative of Prime Minister of India by planting 7 valuable plants in the Boy's Hostel Campus of the College. The program was attended by Deans of the College, teacher members of the Club and the Cell and great number of student volunteers who are residing in the Hostel.

At 12pm the Eco Club
organized an On-the-Spot Poster Making Competition among students of class IX to XII. Students from nearby schools, namely Notun Fatasil Town High School and Bishnupur Vidya Niketan High School, along with students of Arya Vidyapeeth College (Autonomous), enthusiastically participated in the competition.
The event aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage students to express their ideas and concerns regarding environmental conservation through creative artwork. Prizes were distributed among the winners in recognition of their outstanding performances.
The competition was judged by Dr. Anuradha Baroowa, Associate Professor, Department of Education, and Dr. Swapnali Dutta, Associate Professor, Department of Geology, whose valuable assessment and encouragement contributed greatly to the success of the event.

Along with these, the Club renewed their efforts of zero plastic waste campus movement on this special day by organising
an E-Waste Collection Drive within the college campus. The initiative aimed to create awareness about the importance of proper disposal and recycling of electronic waste and to promote environmentally responsible practices among the college community.
Various departments of the college actively participated in the drive by submitting different forms of electronic waste, including outdated electronic devices, damaged accessories, cables, batteries, and other unused electronic materials. The collected e-waste was systematically gathered for proper disposal and recycling through appropriate channels.
The Club is thankful to the authority for the support and the faculty members along with the all the students who made the programs sucessful by their active participation.

On 05.06.2026, the Environment and Climate Cell of the college in collaboration with Institution’s Innovation Council, Arya Vidyapeeth College (A) organised an Interactive Session to celebrate World Environment Day 2026. The theme this year is inspired by nature, for climate and for our future.
The event started with a Welcome address offered by the Coordinator of Environment and Climate Cell, Dr Monali Dutta Saikia. It was followed by the lecture of the invited speaker Mr Samrat Bora who highlighted the importance of sustainable development and insisted that policy makers need to consider environmental hazards in the wake of progress. The insightful lecture ended with a question and answer session where students also shared their perspective on the issue. The senior most member of the Cell, Dr Sushanta Borthakur also delivered a short speech on the occasion. A large gathering of students participated and the event became a success with the joint efforts of the members of both the organising cells. The event concluded with a vote of thanks offered by the host Dr Deboshree Bhattacharjee.

The Department of Geography, Arya Vidyapeeth College (Autonomous), successfully celebrated World Environment Day 2026 on 5th June by organizing a plantation drive at Janajatia M.E. School, Ulubari. This green initiative was conducted under the School Adoption Programme, fulfilling the collaborative goals outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two institutions.

On the occasion of World Environment Day 2026, the Environment & Climate Cell and Eco Club of Arya Vidyapeeth College (Autonomous) organized a Plantation Programme in the Boys’ Hostel premises of the college. The programme was conducted as part of the nationwide tree plantation campaign initiated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on World Environment Day, June 5, 2024. The initiative aimed to promote environmental sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and climate resilience through the planting of indigenous and climate-resilient tree species. Saplings of Jamun, Indian Hog Plum, Agarwood, and other native species were planted by the Dean of Academics (Arts), senior faculty members, students, and members of the Environment & Climate Cell and Eco Club. The programme highlighted the collective commitment of the college community towards environmental stewardship and the creation of a greener and more sustainable future.

The Department of Geography, Arya Vidyapeeth College (Autonomous), is pleased to share that an MoU was signed with the Department of Geography, Sonapur College (Autonomous), Guwahati, on 03 June, 2026, to promote academic collaboration through student and faculty exchange, joint research and publications, organization of academic events, exchange of learning resources, and collaborative curriculum development. We look forward to a fruitful partnership that will benefit both institutions.

Advanced level Institutional Biotech Hub, AVCollege (A) successfully organized a 5-day hands-on training programme entitled, “Molecules to Morphogenesis: Hands-on Skills in Laboratory Science" from 23rd to 30th May, 2026. A total of 33 sixth-semester Zoology Honours students from the college attended the training programme. Experienced faculty members and invited experts specializing in various disciplines of life sciences conducted the sessions on topics related to chromatographic techniques, protein estimation, enzyme assays, Immunology, reproductive biology & developmental biology. Participants actively engaged in lectures, demonstrations, and laboratory sessions throughout the programme. The programme successfully achieved its intended objectives and provided a valuable platform for skill development and experimential learning in laboratory science.
The support extended by the Principal of the college, sponsoring agency Department of Biotechnogy (DBT), resource persons, faculty members, technical staff, and participants contributed significantly to the successful ex*****on of the programme.
