BTB Pick of the Week
What if the perfect job offer came with a secret you were never meant to uncover? This week’s featured story 'Controlled' penned by 13-year-old Kashvi Maini follows Chloe Maxwell, a struggling tutor who finally lands the opportunity of a lifetime with the mysterious Hansen family. But behind the mansion’s polished walls, impeccable manners, and unnerving perfection lies a truth that is far more terrifying than she could have imagined.
Do read and share your thoughts. Happy or should we say chilly reading!

BTB BYTES – JUNE 2026 CHALLENGE
Season 2 | Theme: Echoes
After an incredible first season of BTB Bytes exploring the theme of Time, we now begin a new journey. Season 2 arrives with a quieter, deeper theme — Echoes.
Because some moments do not end when they happen. They linger. Ripple. Return. Transform.
An act of kindness. A loss. A sound in the dark. A memory. A creature small enough to be ignored. Everything leaves an echo somewhere.
For those joining us for the first time, BTB Bytes is our season-based micro-fiction initiative where writers build their craft month after month through literary constraints, cumulative scoring, and thematic exploration. Selected works from the season move towards publication in the BTB Bytes Kindle e-book at the end of the year.
June 2026 Prompt
This month’s prompt comes from our Featured Author of June 2026 — Sonal Singh.
“It started with a chirp…”
What began?
A friendship? A mystery? A rescue? A warning? A memory? A journey?
The line does NOT necessarily need to be used exactly as given and is open to interpretation in your own unique way. As always, remember:
This is micro-fiction. Every word must earn its place.
We look forward to reading the many echoes your stories will leave behind.
Small stories. Longer journeys.

For years, our Voice of the Week initiative has celebrated the many talented writers who make the Beyond The Box community so special. As our community continues to grow, we are giving this initiative a fresh new avatar — Voice of the Month.
This will allow us to shine a brighter spotlight on selected writers and celebrate their work in a more meaningful way. Every month, we will feature:
One Child Voice of the Month
One Adult Voice of the Month
To participate, simply send us your original writing in any format—poetry, flash fiction, memoir, reflections, articles, microfiction, and more. (For prose pieces, please keep submissions within 350–400 words.)
Send your entries to [email protected]
And now, for our very first Adult Voice of the Month for May 2026...
Congratulations to Soma Mukherjee! 🎉
Soma's 'Uneasy Lies the Head Which Wears the Crown' is a gentle yet thought-provoking reminder that the most valuable human qualities are often found in the most unexpected places. With honesty, humour, and a touching moment of connection, the story beautifully explores the difference between appearances and character, leaving readers with a powerful insight on empathy and kindness.
We look forward to reading and celebrating many more voices in the months ahead. ❤️
