The valedictory function of the Rural Awareness Work Experience (RAWE) Programme of the 4th Year B.Sc. (Hons.) Community Science students of the College of Community Science, Central Agricultural University (Imphal), Tura, was held at Dighlapara Village, South West Garo Hills, on 19 June 2026.

The Chief Guest, Shri Subir Marak, Hon’ble MLA of Rangsakona Constituency, appreciated the students’ dedicated service to the rural community and encouraged them to continue contributing towards rural development through their professional knowledge and commitment. Guest of Honour Smti Puneet Sharma, President, BWWA, Dobasipara BSF Camp, highlighted the role of Community Science professionals in empowering rural families through awareness and capacity-building programmes.

Shri Cheman Shira, Block Development Officer, Rerapara Block, commended the students’ extension activities and emphasized the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and local administration for sustainable development. Village Headman Shri Shrivendra Koch and village resident Smti Amola Koch expressed gratitude to the College and appreciated the positive impact of the students’ awareness programmes, demonstrations, surveys, and community outreach activities.
Earlier, Prof. Jyoti V. Vastrad, Dean, College of Community Science, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the significance of the RAWE programme in providing experiential learning and fostering social responsibility among students. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by the RAWE Coordinator, Dr Ranima Saikia.

As part of the Khet Bachao Abhiyan campaign, KVK South Garo Hills conducted method demonstrations and provided technical guidance on sustainable agriculture practices including On farm composting (to lowers cost, builds soil health, recycles farm waste, to reduce nutrients loss), natural farming, soil health management, balanced fertilisers use and organic farming, at Digangre Village, Chokpot Block on June 17, 2026.

As part of the campaign on 16th June 2026 at Bamongre Village, Baghmara Block, KVK South Garo Hills conducted method demonstrations and provided technical guidance on Natural farming, soil health, biofertilizers, seed treatment with Trichoderma, balanced fertilizer use, organic farming, green manuring, Azolla cultivation & vermicomposting

As part of the campaign on 16th June 2026 at Nilwa Ading Village, Baghmara Block, KVK SGH conducted method demonstrations and provided technical guidance on natural farming. Topics covered included soil health, biofertilizers, seed treatment with Trichoderma, balanced fertilizer use, organic farming, green manuring, Azolla cultivation, vermicomposting, and biostimulants.

KVK, South Garo Hills organized on 15th June 2026 as part of a nationwide agricultural awareness campaign. At Gilmatkolgre village, Chokpot Block , method demonstrations and technical guidance were provided on the importance of Soil health, Biofertilizer, seed treatment with Trichoderma, balanced fertilizer use, organic farming, Green manuring, Azolla cultivation, vermicomposting, natural farming & bio stimulant. Distributed Biofertilizer & Trichoderma as part of the campaign
