Artisans: The Unsung Heroes of Sustainability: When we think of World Environment Day, we often think of planting trees, reducing waste, and protecting natural resources. But there is another group that contributes to sustainability every day - our artisans.
At IIHT Jodhpur's World Environment Day 2026 celebration, the special exhibition organized by the Handicrafts Service Centre, Jodhpur, beautifully showcased how traditional crafts support a greener future. From handcrafted products and traditional embroidery to the use of recycled materials and eco-friendly production practices, the displays highlighted sustainability in action.
Long before sustainability became a global movement, artisans were practicing it through resource-efficient production, repair and reuse culture, and low-energy manufacturing methods. Every handcrafted product reflects skill, creativity, and respect for nature.
The exhibition reminded us that preserving handloom and handicraft traditions is not only about protecting our cultural heritage—it is also about promoting sustainable livelihoods and responsible consumption. IIHT Jodhpur expresses its sincere gratitude to the Handicrafts Service Centre, Jodhpur, Assistant Director Shri Raviveer Choudhary, participating artisans, faculty members, staff, and students for making this celebration meaningful and inspiring.
🌱 Together, let us celebrate and support artisans who keep our traditions alive while helping build a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future.

Completing the Third Batch of School Internship Programme: Today, IIHT Jodhpur successfully completed the third batch of the School (Handloom) Internship Programme conducted in collaboration with the Bharti Airtel Foundation and supported by the Rajasthan Education Department. 26 students from Government shools of lunawas kara and Khatwaas village participated. This initiative continues to create meaningful exposure for school students in the areas of handloom weaving, textile processing, design thinking, sustainability, and India’s rich craft heritage.
We sincerely appreciate the Bharti Airtel Foundation for their vision and support in promoting experiential learning aligned with the spirit of NEP 2020. Such programmes are important because they help students:
• Discover their interests and skills beyond textbooks
• Develop creativity, confidence, and problem-solving abilities
• Understand the dignity of labour and respect for artisans
• Connect traditional knowledge with future career opportunities
