A beautiful 7-day Film Appreciation Course is going to be held at CKB Commerce College. Interested person can participate.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, observed on 5 June 2026, Aastha, the Women's Cell of CKB Commerce College, Jorhat, organized an orchid plantation drive with the objective of promoting environmental awareness and biodiversity conservation. As part of this initiative, several indigenous and exotic orchid species were planted within the college campus.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Dr. Breez Mohan Hazarika, Principal of CKB Commerce College. A total of five varieties of orchids were planted during the programme. These included two varieties of Kopou Phool (Rhynchostylis retusa), the State Flower of Assam, along with other orchid varieties locally known as Bhato Kapou, Saliki-Thutia Kapou, and Tiliki Kapou. The initiative was undertaken to encourage the conservation of orchid diversity and to instill a sense of environmental responsibility among the academic community.
Aastha extends its heartfelt gratitude to all those who contributed to the successful organization of the event and looks forward to undertaking many more such initiatives in the future.

The Foundation Day of Aastha, the Women's Cell of CKB Commerce College, Jorhat, was celebrated on 4 June 2026 with enthusiasm and a commitment to inclusivity and learning. On the occasion, members remembered the founders, contributors, and well-wishers whose efforts have helped Aastha grow into a vibrant and mature cell of the college.

The programme was presided over by Ms. Gitali Hazarika, Chairperson of Aastha. Dr. Sarat Borah, Vice Principal of the College, and Dr. Hareswar Das, Head of the Department of Accountancy, addressed the gathering. Mr. Dimbeswar Bora, Head of the Department of Hindi also shared encouraging words and reflected on the cell’s journey. The programme was conducted by Dr. Prerana Sarma, Assistant Coordinator of Aastha.

A major highlight of the celebration was the inauguration of the Aastha Library, established to promote reading, knowledge, and inclusivity. The library includes books on women's issues, works by women authors, and a dedicated section on LGBTQ+ literature.

A Book Donation Drive was also organized to enrich the library's collection. Faculty members generously contributed books, and their support was gratefully acknowledged.

Aastha extends heartfelt thanks to all faculty members, contributors, participants, and well-wishers whose cooperation made the programme a success.
