Today, inside Kalanjali — Prayasam's art gazebo, where creativity has always felt at home, Saptarshi, lead Adobe Educator, took Brainware University's Media Science and Journalism students on a journey from blank page to storyboard.
The energy in the room was immediate. By the end of the session, the students had developed two sharp, original story plots — one following a community radio host exposing suppressed flood warnings, another tracking a multimedia journalist fighting a deepfake smear campaign. Both plots were built with real journalistic rigour — character stakes, verification methods, ethical decision-making, and visual pacing all thoughtfully factored in.
What made this session significant was not just the creativity it unlocked, but the bridge it built — between reporting craft and production thinking. Between knowing the story and knowing how to tell it.
Something is fitting about this work happening inside Kalanjali. A space built for artistic expression becomes the classroom where the next generation of journalists learns that storytelling and truth-telling are, at their best, the same thing.
Because in today's media landscape, a journalist who can verify, narrate, and visualise is not just a reporter. They are a counter to misinformation. A builder of community trust. A storyteller with a conscience.
That is exactly what Prayasam and Brainware are training together.

On World Environment Day, Media Science and Journalism students from Brainware University visited a community associated with Prayasam’s Duo Ranir Songshar (DRS), where a community pop-up sale showcased sustainable crafts and livelihood initiatives. The students assisted with product displays, interacted with customers, and gained first-hand exposure to community-based entrepreneurship and sustainable fashion. A key attraction was the collection of reversible Kantha quilts, handcrafted using traditional patchwork techniques. The event also highlighted Prayasam’s Love Me Twice initiative, which transforms discarded materials into eco-friendly products. Through this experience, students witnessed how sustainability, creativity, and traditional craftsmanship can come together to support environmental awareness and meaningful livelihood opportunities.

Today, with the Media Science and Journalism students of Brainware University, we explored something that sits at the intersection of creativity and self-awareness — the art of creating miniature handmade books as an exercise in personal expression and deep reflection.
Each student was invited to fill their small, handcrafted book with something far more demanding than an assignment: their own poems, their own words, their own stories — written in their own voice, without a template to follow or a right answer to reach for.
Because a book made this way becomes something more than a creative object. It becomes an alter ego. A mirror. A quiet, private space where doubts can be named, confusion can be held, and the questions we carry about ourselves can finally be put down on a page.
For aspiring journalists, this kind of inward work is not a detour from their profession — it is the foundation of it. Before you can report honestly on the world outside, you need to be able to look honestly at the world within. The ability to approach your own thoughts with objectivity — to observe yourself without flinching — is one of the most essential and least taught skills in journalism, especially in an era when yellow journalism and manufactured noise make clear-eyed, self-aware reporting more urgent than ever.
What we discovered in this session was as much about the students as it was about the craft. And that, perhaps, was the point.
A meaningful afternoon of creativity, introspection, and genuine self-discovery.

Media Science and Journalism students transformed their personal stories into powerful visual storyboards, using the magic of comics as an innovative learning tool.
This hands-on exercise helped them organize their thoughts with greater imagination, express themselves freely, and sharpen their ideas before turning them into written reports. By visualizing their narratives, students could clearly identify their core message — making their storytelling more focused, meaningful, and impactful.
Great work, future storytellers!

The Media Science and Journalism students of Brainware University were oriented today on the crucial interplay between Gender and Democracy. At Prayasam, we have long believed that biases and preconceived judgments can significantly limit an individual’s personal and professional growth. This is why we begin our engagement by assessing a person’s Gender Quotient (GQ). Through
interactive methods such as debates, card games, and reflective exercises, we foster meaningful dialogue, self-awareness, and critical thinking. Our Founder has been actively involved in gender sensitisation for many years, regularly conducting impactful sessions for students from universities across India and abroad. The gender module used in these sessions is accredited by XLRI, Jamshedpur, and has proven to be a powerful tool in nurturing values of equality, dignity, and inclusion among young minds.

We are delighted to welcome a vibrant group of interns from Brainware University to the Salt Lake City Prayasam family this year.
Following an introductory orientation, we invited the young participants to engage in a reflective exercise that would help us know them better—and their enthusiastic and spontaneous participation was truly heartening.
As we prepare to observe World Environment Day on 5th June and dedicate the month to sustainability, we introduced them to the Tree of Life—a nature-inspired mindful practice and creative journaling exercise. Through roots, branches, leaves, and dreams, the participants explored their personal journeys, aspirations, strengths, and connections with the world around them.
It was an inspiring beginning to a month of learning, self-discovery, and collective commitment towards a more sustainable future.

When a Child Makes a Book, Something Shifts.
In a world where screens compete with every page, getting children and youth genuinely excited about books is one of the quietest and most important battles in education today. The honest truth is — children are simply not reading the way they once did. And telling them to read more has never worked.
So we tried something different.
Italo Rovere travelled all the way from Brazil to be with Prayasam's children and youth for a summer camp with a beautifully simple idea at its heart — what if instead of asking children to read someone else's books, we helped them create their own library?
Today was the final day. And what we witnessed was nothing short of remarkable.
Parents came up to us — quietly, almost disbelievingly — to share that their children were already at home making books. Writing stories. Drawing pages. Building something with their hands and their imagination that they could not put down.
As Italo puts it, the act of creating a book does something to a child's brain that consuming one passively cannot. It builds attention. It develops focus. It makes the written word feel alive — because it came from them.
Thank you, Italo, for crossing an ocean to plant this seed.
We cannot wait to see the library these young writers build.
