Vidyasagar Metropolitan College

The VMC family enthusiastically celebrated the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 on 21 June 2026. Faculty members, non-teaching staff, students, and NSS volunteers actively participated in yoga activities both on the college campus and at various venues across the city. The celebration reflected the collective commitment of the Vidyasagar Metropolitan College community towards physical well-being, mental wellness, and a healthy lifestyle.

Vidyasagar Metropolitan College proudly observed Paschimbanga Divas 2026 on 20 June 2026 in accordance with the Government of West Bengal's directive.
The celebration featured the Paschimbanga Divas Distinguished Lecture 2026 delivered by renowned writer, editor and researcher Shri Amit Das, who eloquently spoke on the rich history, heritage and cultural legacy of West Bengal. The programme was attended by students, teachers and non-teaching staff members of the College.
To encourage greater engagement with the history and culture of our State, the College also organized an Essay Competition on “সাম্প্রদায়িক রাজনীতি ও পশ্চিমবঙ্গের জন্ম” and a Photography Competition on “পশ্চিমবঙ্গ : ঐতিহ্যে শিল্পকলার উত্থান”.
The winners of these competitions will be felicitated during the celebration of the Birth Anniversary of Pandit Iswarchandra Vidyasagar (Founders' Day) on 26 September 2026.
The observance served as a meaningful occasion to reflect upon the glorious heritage of West Bengal and inspire the younger generation to cherish and preserve its rich cultural traditions.

Vidyasagar Metropolitan College is pleased to announce the Paschimbanga Divas Distinguished Lecture 2026, organized in observance of Paschimbanga Divas (West Bengal Day) as envisaged by the Government of West Bengal.
We are honoured to welcome Shri Amit Das, eminent writer, editor, researcher, and distinguished scholar of Rabindranath Tagore and the Tagore family, as the Keynote Speaker for this special occasion.

আনন্দবাজার পত্রিকায় প্রকাশিত সংবাদ অনুযায়ী, আজ অত্যন্ত আনন্দের সাথে জানাচ্ছি যে, গত শনিবার নদীয়ার চাকদহ থানার মদনপুর মাজদিয়া যমুনাপাড়ায় গ্রামবাসীদের সহযোগিতায় সাড়ম্বরে পালিত হলো 'রবীন্দ্রজয়ন্তী'।

এই মহতী অনুষ্ঠানের শুভ সূচনা করেন আমাদের মহাবিদ্যালয়ের বাংলা বিভাগের শ্রদ্ধেয় অধ্যাপক ডঃ সঞ্জয় প্রামাণিক মহাশয়। অনুষ্ঠানে রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরের সমাজ ভাবনা, শিল্পচিন্তা ও নারী ভাবনা বিষয়ক আলোচনায় তাঁর মূল্যবান বক্তব্য উপস্থিত সকলকে অনুপ্রাণিত করেছে।
