As part of Orientation Week, the MBA 63rd Batch will explore Kolkata's iconic landmarks and cultural legacy through a specially curated educational and cultural tour.

IIM Calcutta formally inaugurated the 𝐌𝐁𝐀 𝟔𝟑𝐫𝐝 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡, welcoming a new cohort of students from diverse backgrounds and regions across the country at the Freshers’ Welcome Ceremony.

The ceremony was graced by 𝐒𝐡𝐫𝐢 𝐆𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐌𝐨𝐡𝐚𝐧, 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫, 𝐁𝐚𝐣𝐚𝐣 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐋𝐭𝐝. 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐧𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐈𝐌 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐚, 𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐆𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐀𝐥𝐨𝐤 𝐊𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐫 𝐑𝐚𝐢, 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫, 𝐈𝐈𝐌 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐚; 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐁𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐚𝐫 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐤𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢, 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐧, 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐬; 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐚 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐲𝐚 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐚, 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧, 𝐌𝐁𝐀 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞.

Welcoming the incoming students, Prof. Rai highlighted the diversity of the batch and noted that IIM Calcutta brings together talent from across India, creating a "mini India" on campus. He also emphasized the institute's commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among its students.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Bhaskar Chakrabarti spoke about the collective spirit of the IIM Calcutta community, underscoring that every member of the institute is part of one family committed to supporting each other's growth and success.

Drawing from his professional journey, Shri Ganesh Mohan encouraged students to view career growth as a lattice rather than a ladder, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning, adaptability, and informed decision-making. He also reflected on the opportunities and challenges presented by artificial intelligence and the need to prepare for a rapidly evolving business landscape.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Partha Priya Datta, who welcomed the students and wished them a fulfilling and transformative journey at IIM Calcutta.

As part of the MBA 63rd Batch Orientation Programme, IIM Calcutta welcomed 𝐌𝐫. 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐯 𝐀𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐢, 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫, 𝐀𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐢 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬, as the Guest of Honour.

Drawing from his leadership journey, Mr. Adani shared insights on the importance of ex*****on, ownership, and resilience in today's dynamic business environment. He encouraged students to be responsible leaders committed to continuous improvement and capable of translating opportunities into meaningful outcomes.

Mr. Adani also announced the continuation of the 𝐀𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐢 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞 (𝐀𝐀𝐋𝐏), under which six MBA students of IIM Calcutta receive fully funded scholarships each year. Additionally, he announced the provision of 𝟐𝟎𝟎 𝐛𝐢𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐁𝐀 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 to enhance campus mobility and student life.

The session was attended by 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐕𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐤 𝐑𝐚𝐣𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢, 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐧, 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 & 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 (𝐃&𝐄𝐑), 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐚 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐲𝐚 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐚, 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧, 𝐌𝐁𝐀 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞. A token MoU signing between 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐀𝐥𝐨𝐤 𝐊𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐫 𝐑𝐚𝐢, 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫, 𝐈𝐈𝐌 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐚, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐢 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬 was also held, reaffirming the continued partnership between the institution and the Adani Group.

As part of the MBA 63rd Batch Orientation Week, students at IIM Calcutta engaged in an insightful Author’s Talk with Mr. Rahul Singh, Senior Assistant Director, Global Marketing & Strategy, Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), banker, author, and thought leader, whose work explores themes of purpose, conscious leadership, and personal growth.

In his talk, "Ca$H: Career, $alary and Happiness," Mr. Singh encouraged students to reflect on the relationship between professional success, financial aspirations, and personal fulfilment. Drawing from his diverse experiences across academia, banking, and authorship, he shared perspectives on building meaningful careers and making choices aligned with one's values and long-term goals.

Business leaders today are expected to make informed decisions driven by financial insights and strategic thinking. Finance Essentials for Business Leaders – Using Financials for Value Creation and Growth provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of financial concepts, performance evaluation, and value-driven business strategies. The programme aims to strengthen financial acumen relevant to contemporary organizational challenges.
