How a fintech payment actually works

You tap “Pay” on the app
The app only sends a payment request. It does not move money.
The request goes to a payment processor (API layer)
This layer connects the app to banks and forwards your request.
Your bank checks the transaction
It verifies your balance and approves or rejects the payment.
Payment rails execute the transfer
Systems like UPI or card networks move money from your bank to the receiver’s bank.
The receiver’s bank gets the money
The amount is credited to the merchant.
Confirmation is sent back to you
The app shows “Payment Successful”.
