There is an immense opportunity to grow in the solar energy generation sector in India and a war footing rejuvenated efforts are required.

The United States has achieved a historic energy milestone, with solar power generating more electricity than coal during a reporting period for the first time in the country's history.

Just two decades ago, coal accounted for nearly half of U.S. electricity generation, while solar energy contributed only a negligible share. However, declining solar panel costs, technological advancements, and rapid deployment have transformed the nation's energy landscape.

Large-scale solar farms, rooftop installations, and expanding battery storage capacity have accelerated the transition, supported by innovation and long-term investments. In many parts of the country, solar energy has become one of the most cost-effective sources of new power generation, increasingly rivaling traditional fossil fuels.

While coal continues to play a role in maintaining grid stability during periods of high demand, its share of electricity generation has steadily decreased as older plants retire and cleaner energy sources gain prominence. At the same time, the integration of energy storage systems is enhancing reliability by enabling solar power to supply electricity beyond daylight hours.

The development marks one of the most significant and rapid transformations in the history of U.S. electricity generation, underscoring the growing role of renewable energy as a cornerstone of America's evolving power system.

Collaboration and cooperation is highly needed for monetization of yet to find difficult oil/ gas around the world for energizing the globe.

Since arriving in China in the early 1980s, ConocoPhillips has played a meaningful role in the country's modern energy story. The Penglai Oilfield in the Bohai Sea stands as the largest offshore oilfield in China, built through collaboration with CNOOC. All countries around the world should compete with Portugal for cleaner energy at a break neck speed.

Portugal just proved the world wrong.

For 6 straight days, the entire country ran on 100% renewable electricity — no coal, no gas, no fossil fuels. Wind turbines, solar panels, and hydroelectric plants powered every home, every factory, every city in the nation.

149 consecutive hours of clean energy. And they even had surplus electricity left over, which they exported to Spain.

This didn't happen by accident. Portugal shut down its last coal plant in 2021 — nine years ahead of schedule. Years of investment in wind and solar infrastructure made this possible.

The numbers speak for themselves. During those six days, 1,102 GWh of renewable energy was generated — exceeding national consumption by over 20%.

A country of 10 million people. Zero fossil fuels. Six days straight.

If Portugal can do it, the blueprint exists. The only question now is who's next.
