ICAR - Indian Institute of Spices Research, Regional Station, Appangala, organized an awareness programme at Napoklu Village, Madikeri Taluk, Kodagu District, on 24 June 2026 under the Khet Bachao Abhiyan campaign in association with KVK and the Department of Agriculture.
Dr. Honnappa Asangi and Dr. Gayathri G N, interacted with farmers and discussed improved spice crop varieties, micronutrient formulations and bio-capsules such as PGPR and Trichoderma for enhancing soil health and crop performance. The benefits and application methods of IISR bio-capsules were explained, and bio-capsules were distributed to the participating farmers.

Under the Khet Bachao Abhiyan campaign, ICAR - Indian Institute of Spices Research organized an awareness programme at Chemanchery, Kozhikode, on 24 June 2026.
The programme was inaugurated by Shri Anil Bose, President, Chemanchery Grama Panchayat, and presided over by Smt. Subaida Kabeer, Vice President, Chemanchery Grama Panchayat. Dr. Anees K, Dr. Sajesh V K and Dr. Sona Charles from ICAR-IISR led and coordinated the programme. Smt. Hena V, Agricultural Officer, Chemanchery, along with Dr. Anulekshmi, Dr. Akhilesh and Dr. Vysakh from ICAR-CMFRI also participated.
The technical sessions covered soil health management, balanced fertilizer use, biofertilizers, biocapsules and eco-friendly pest and disease management practices in black pepper, turmeric, coconut and arecanut. Farmers also interacted with scientists on crop management and nutrient practices. Biocapsules developed by ICAR-IISR were distributed to the participants during the programme.

As part of the Khet Bachao Abhiyan campaign, ICAR - Indian Institute of Spices Research organized an awareness programme at Kunnamangalam, Kozhikode, on 23 June 2026.
Dr. Shamsudheen M, delivered a session on soil health management, highlighting the importance of scientific nutrient management, organic matter addition and sustainable cultivation practices for improving soil fertility and crop productivity.
During the interactive session, farmers discussed crop management issues related to black pepper, ginger, turmeric, nutmeg, coconut and banana. Dr. Shameena Beegum P P participated in the discussion and shared information on the spice processing facilities of ICAR-IISR.
The programme was attended by Shri Shaji P, Assistant Director of Agriculture, Kunnamangalam, Mrs. Deepa J, Agriculture Officer, Mr. Rupesh, Assistant Agriculture Officer, and Mrs. Radhika, Assistant Technology Manager, ATMA Scheme.

As part of the Kheti Bachao Abhiyan campaign, ICAR - Indian Institute of Spices Research, in association with Kakkodi Krishibhavan, organized an awareness programme at Kakkodi, Kozhikode, on 22 June 2026.
The programme focused on soil fertility management, balanced fertilizer use, soil testing, integrated nutrient management and sustainable agricultural practices. Smt. Adithya M, Agricultural Officer, Kakkodi, introduced the objectives of the campaign and Smt. Nisha K., Assistant Director of Agriculture, highlighted the importance of scientific nutrient management for maintaining soil health.
The technical sessions were delivered by Dr. K S Krishnamurthy, Dr. C M Senthil Kumar, Dr. Divya P Syamaladevi and Dr. Muhammed Azharudheen T P, covering balanced fertilizer use, crop - soil interactions, soil testing, nutrient management practices and ICAR-IISR technologies. Shri. Subramanian, Assistant Soil Chemist, District Soil Testing Laboratory, also explained soil testing procedures and the use of Soil Health Cards for effective nutrient management.

New Paper: Physiological and metabolic reprogramming in in vitro propagated ginger (Zingiber officinale Rosc.)
In vitro propagation provides disease-free planting material in ginger, a crop of high medicinal and commercial importance.
