The CMS mission is to create a better future for all children. Their motto “Jai Jagat” has been the school's greeting from the beginning.

City Montessori School (CMS) is the world’s largest city-school with 21 campuses in the city of Lucknow. The school that began with 5 children in 1959 on a borrowed capital of 300 rupees, today has over 60,000 students from Montessori to Class XII. CMS founders, Dr Jagdish Gandhi and Dr Bharti Gandhi were inspired by the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and Sant Vinoba Bhave. They started CMS with visi

A big shout-out to City Montessori School, Indira Nagar Campus for making its mark on the global stage!

Six of our young achievers have been awarded the prestigious Certificate of High Distinction in the International Benchmark Test (IBT), conducted by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), Australia. Competing alongside students from nearly 18 countries, they secured an exceptional score of 95% and above, reflecting their strong subject knowledge, confidence and academic preparedness.

A proud moment for the City Montessori School family.

We are delighted to celebrate the remarkable achievement of our distinguished CMS Fellow and an alumnus of CMS Raja Bazar and CMS Mahanagar Campuses, Prof. (Dr) Shailendra Saxena, FRCPath (UK), Vice-Dean, Professor & Head, Centre for Advanced Research (CFAR), King George's Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow.

For decades, scientists knew of only about 100 human brain cell types. Today, advances in brain mapping have revealed more than 3,313 distinct cell types, opening entirely new frontiers in neuroscience and our understanding of the human brain.

Building on these groundbreaking discoveries, Prof. Saxena and his team have proposed an innovative, spatially informed framework for isolating and culturing primary human brain cells. Published in the Journal of Neuropathology & Experimental Neurology (June 2026), this groundbreaking work represents a significant step towards developing more accurate human-relevant models for studying neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.

This achievement not only advances global brain research but also highlights the growing contribution of Lucknow and India to world-class scientific innovation.

At CMS, we take immense pride in the achievements of our alumni as well as our esteemed Fellows of CMS, and Prof. (Dr) Saxena's contribution reminds us that great discoveries begin with curiosity, dedication, and a commitment to making the world a better place.

Congratulations to Prof. Saxena and the entire KGMU CFAR research team on this outstanding accomplishment. 👏

Celebrating Wellness, Balance & Inner Harmony on International Yoga Day 2026 🧘‍♀️

At City Montessori School, we believe that true excellence begins with well-being. In a world that is constantly moving faster, taking time to pause, breathe, and reconnect with ourselves is more important than ever.

To commemorate International Yoga Day, the CMS Head Office team came together for a refreshing and rejuvenating yoga session dedicated to physical health, mental clarity, and emotional well-being.

Guided by an experienced instructor, participants practised a series of asanas and breathing techniques, including Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Veerbhadrasana, Bhujangasana, Ustrasana, Vajrasana, Butterfly Asana, Paschimottanasana, Anulom Vilom, and Bhramari—each contributing to greater strength, flexibility, focus, relaxation, and inner balance.

We were honoured to have our respected CMS manager, Prof. Geeta Gandhi Kingdon, join the session and encourage the spirit of holistic wellness that lies at the heart of the CMS philosophy.

The session served as a reminder that when individuals nurture their physical and mental well-being, they become more resilient, productive, creative, and compassionate members of their communities.

As an institution committed to nurturing global citizens, CMS continues to promote practices that support healthy minds, healthy bodies, and healthy workplaces.

🌱 One breath. One stretch. One step towards a healthier future.

The true power of yoga lies not in extraordinary poses, but in the extraordinary transformation it creates within us, helping us lead healthier, happier, and more balanced lives.

Our students from CMS RDSO Campus recently brought this timeless practice to life through a graceful on-stage presentation, showcasing confidence, flexibility, mindful breathing, and inner calm. More than a performance, it was a beautiful reflection of the values that yoga nurtures—well-being, clarity of thought, emotional balance, self-discipline, and positivity.

As we celebrate International Yoga Day this week, let us take inspiration from our young yogis and embrace simple habits that can make a meaningful difference to our everyday lives:

* Take a few moments for deep breathing when stress begins to build.

* Welcome the day with a round of Surya Namaskar.

* Pause occasionally to be present, mindful, and grateful.

After all, the most meaningful transformations often begin with the smallest steps.

What's your favourite yoga posture or your go-to tip for staying calm, focused, and positive on busy days?

Share it in the comments below. We'd love to hear from you!

Imagine if just one habit could help your child feel stronger, calmer, and more focused every single day.

That’s the real magic of yoga. It’s so much more than just stretching—it builds the kind of focus and inner strength that helps kids thrive both in school and in life.

With International Yoga Day coming up this week, we couldn’t think of a better time to celebrate one of our own amazing students: Aarna Om Singh from CMS Gomti Nagar Campus I.

Aarna is living proof of what happens when passion meets practice. Check out what she’s accomplished lately:

🏆 Crowned 'Champion of Champions' at the Asia Pacific Yogasana Sports Championship in Malaysia.

🌍 Broken world records with her incredible yogic feats.

🥈 Won 2nd prize at the CISCE Regional Yoga Olympiad, qualifying straight for the Nationals!

But if you ask Aarna, she’ll tell you it’s not really about the medals. It’s about the discipline, the self-belief, and the balance she finds on the mat every day. True excellence isn't built overnight—it’s built one breath, one practice, and one small effort at a time.

This Yoga Day, let’s take a page out of Aarna’s book. Whether it's five minutes of breathing or a full session, let’s encourage our kids (and ourselves!) to find that inner balance.

Drop a ❤️ to congratulate Aarna and wish her luck for the Nationals!
