Summer Camp and Tree Plantation Drive
La Martiniere College, under the guidance of our Principal, Mr. Gary Dominic Everett, successfully organized a vibrant and enriching Summer Camp this season, bringing together students from all age groups from various other schools of the city for a memorable experience filled with learning, recreation, and personal growth. The campus was alive with enthusiasm as children participated in a wide variety of sports and recreational activities, including swimming, basketball, boxing, archery, taekwondo, shooting, yoga, cricket, table tennis, football, skating, tennis, and horse riding.
The camp also provided a platform for students to explore their creative talents through engaging in robotics, dance and music sessions. These activities helped students learn new skills, build confidence, and express themselves through performance and artistic expression.
More than just a recreational event, the Summer Camp emphasized important values such as teamwork, discipline, perseverance, and sportsmanship. Friendly matches, talent showcases, and daily fitness routines encouraged students to challenge themselves, develop new abilities, and create lasting friendships. Every participant returned home with cherished memories and a renewed sense of confidence.
Adding a meaningful dimension to the camp, the school celebrated Environmental Week by organizing a Tree Plantation Drive under the theme “Plant Today, Preserve Tomorrow.” Students, teachers, and parents enthusiastically participated in the initiative and planted approximately 300 fruit-bearing trees across the campus. The saplings included mango, guava, jamun, and lemon trees, all of which will contribute to a greener and healthier environment in the years to come, for which we are thankful to Mrs. Simmi Burman from Saubhagya Foundation for providing the saplings.
To ensure the success of the initiative, each student adopted a number of trees and pledged to care for them regularly. The sight of young students carefully planting saplings and nurturing them reflected a deep sense of environmental responsibility and commitment towards protecting nature.
The Tree Plantation Drive not only enhanced the beauty of the campus but also instilled in students the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable living. It served as a powerful reminder that meaningful change begins with small, collective actions.
Together, the Summer Camp and the Tree Plantation Drive made this season both enjoyable and purposeful. By combining sports, creativity, fitness, and environmental awareness, the school provided students with a holistic learning experience that will leave a lasting impact on their lives.
