दिल्ली समेत उत्तरी, मध्य और पश्चिमी भारत के बड़े हिस्से भीषण गर्मी की चपेट में हैं, कई राज्यों में तापमान 40 डिग्री सेल्सियस से ऊपर पहुंच गया है और अधिकारी दैनिक जीवन पर इसके प्रभाव को कम करने के लिए प्रयासरत हैं।

हालांकि शनिवार सुबह राष्ट्रीय राजधानी के कुछ हिस्सों में बारिश हुई, लेकिन भारतीय मौसम विज्ञान विभाग (आईएमडी) द्वारा शहर में जारी लू की चेतावनी 28 मई तक जारी रहेगी।

मौसम विभाग ने चेतावनी दी है कि आने वाले दिनों में लू की स्थिति बनी रहने की संभावना है, उत्तर प्रदेश और विदर्भ के कुछ हिस्सों में पहले से ही भीषण लू की खबरें आ रही हैं। दिल्ली, हरियाणा, पंजाब, हिमाचल प्रदेश, पूर्वी मध्य प्रदेश, उत्तराखंड, ओडिशा और तटीय आंध्र प्रदेश भी उन क्षेत्रों में शामिल हैं जहां अत्यधिक तापमान का सामना करना पड़ रहा है।

The new BJP-led government in West Bengal, under Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, has taken a major strategic decision of clearing about 120 acres of land in the sensitive Siliguri corridor, popularly known as 'Chicken Neck, for the Central Government.

"In our very first Cabinet meeting today, we have decided to transfer the land to the BSF. The process of transferring this land commences today. It will be transferred to the MHA within the next 45 days. Once this is accomplished, the BSF will complete the border fencing, and the ongoing issue of illegal infiltration will be resolved within a short period," the CM said.

According to the authorities, the process of land transfer has already begun in North Bengal. 'Chicken Neck' or the Siliguri corridor is a very thin but very important stretch of land that connects mainland India to theortheastern states and is considered India's crucial security lifeline.
