The award-winning teleophthalmology project led by Padmaja Kumari Rani did this by delivering high-quality eye care remotely, reducing unnecessary travel and hospital visits. Patients received earlier diagnosis and treatment closer to home, while the health system cut carbon emissions and resource use through fewer referrals and in-person appointments.
