A wonderful example of working with the British Embassy and their work to increase global knowledge and tolerance of different cultures across the world.

This is Kittu. She is a 7 year old Hindu girl who attends a Christian school that is one of our Happiness Curriculum model schools located just outside New Delhi, India. Each child picks and then researches and presents their story of the country, religion and culture to the entire school on Assembly days.

Sharing Happiness Wednesday in Luweero, Uganda. Today we learned about mindfulness, controlling our emotions, replacing unhappy things in our brain and filling that space with Happiness. Through each class subject taught school children learned that we have to practice Happiness everyday and in as many ways as possible.

We also created happiness crafts and worked & played, while making lamp shades, decorative bottles, bracelets and fashion jewelry. We work better when we help each other and our communities.

Here are are some samples of the amazing activities and results of our day at school.

Oh, as a Brain Breather, we taught the school Michael Jackson’s Thriller choreography in the AM and Justin Timberlake’s Dance Dance Dance. Videos coming soon.

We hope this puts some sunshine in your pocket and happiness in your day!

Thank you Bizoza Francis! You make magic everyday and your school is blessed to have you. We love your school, Principal, Teachers, and kids.

World Education Summit- Innovation in Education session.

In this session on innovation in education and challenges teachers and administrators face, I talk about how teaching is akin to water. Water has humility. You can say what you need to about it and it will respond as water does. Likewise, teachers need great humility. They face challenges every day and must maintain their humility.

Secondly, teachers are presented with unique challenges from children, admins, parents, and the community. Like water, when a huge rock is dropped in a stream, water will find a path around it and continue on with its mission...to flow forward. Teachers must find ways to deal with rocks dropped in their path. Administration, don’t drop rocks on your teachers! Drop pebbles not rocks. Help teachers flow and children will benefit.

Thirdly, like water that can take many forms, liquid water, solid ice, or steam, water adapts. Teachers must adapt as well. Every child is different and presents unique opportunities.

Lastly, water quenches thirst and helps us live and thrive.

Teaching is like water.
