NPTEL Domain Certification:

NPTEL has been giving out course-level certificates since 2014 and there have been quite a few students doing multiple courses from NPTEL.

Some need guidance on what courses to take up together and also a classification of courses based on the end goal, whether it is appearing for some competitive exam or becoming job-ready or specializing in an area of study.

Domains are being created in multiple disciplines (more domains will be put out as newer courses are created).

The Domain Certification helps the learners to gain expertise in a specific Area/Domain.

Every domain will comprise Core courses and Elective courses.

This can be helpful for learners who wish to work in a particular area as part of their job or research.

EduExperiments Participation in overnight event??? For me?? Not my cup of tea. 😰 (How I burnt the midnight oil during the last phase of PhD (never-ending data analysis and report-writing) is a matter of miracle for me till date. 😤)

IIT Madras, India’s #1 ranked NIRF institute, launched Diploma programmes in the areas of Programming and Data Science in June 2020. More than 10000 students are currently enrolled and studying in this programme. Students enrolled in a full-time on-campus degree can also enroll in this program simultaneously to obtain this diploma from IIT Madras. In this way, as envisaged in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, students can graduate with their degree of specialization from the on-campus program and have the skill set of a data scientist or coder too.

Students can either do a diploma in programming or a diploma in data science or both. A learner has to complete the foundational level of 8 courses first and then 6 diploma level courses to get a single diploma (either in programming or data science) from IIT Madras. The course contents are offered online, but the quizzes and the end-term exams are conducted in-person, in centers across the country in an invigilated environment. IIT Madras Online Degree Program Learn Programming and Data Science through online mode with opportunity to get Bachelor’s Degree (BSc) or Diploma from IIT Madras upon successfully completing required online courses. First of its kind undergraduate program that leverages the ease of online learning.

IIT Madras had launched Diploma programmes in the areas of Programming and Data Science in June 2020. More than 10,000 students are currently enrolled and studying in this program. Students enrolled in a full-time on-campus degree can also enroll in this program simultaneously to obtain this diploma from IIT Madras.

IITM now wishes to partner with NPTEL Local Chapter colleges and extend full scholarships to 2 students (more numbers will be considered based on the availability of funds) coming from economically disadvantaged backgrounds with family income
