When you start choosing yourself, guilt may come first.

Not because your choice was wrong.

But because your old pattern is used to keeping everyone comfortable.

You may feel like you should explain more.
Apologize more.
Soften your boundary.
Take it back.
Make them feel okay again.

But pause.

You are not responsible for managing every reaction.

You can be respectful and still firm.
You can care and still have limits.
You can love people and still not abandon yourself.

Sometimes the guilt is not a warning.

Sometimes it is just proof that you are doing something unfamiliar.

Let it pass.

Don’t make permanent choices from temporary discomfort.

Comment GUILT if this is the hardest part of choosing yourself.

Perfectionism can make small mistakes feel unbearable.

But one mistake does not reduce your worth.

You can take responsibility without hating yourself.

You can improve without insulting yourself.

You can learn without collapsing into shame.

A mistake is feedback.

It is not a final judgment on who you are.

Share this with a perfectionist who is too hard on herself.
