💛 “But they gave me a gift…”
Many children are taught to be polite before they’re taught about boundaries.
A child who receives a flower 🌷, candy 🍬, help with homework 📚, or kindness 😊 may feel they owe something in return—a hug, affection, attention, or a favor.
They don’t.
Teaching consent means helping children understand:
✨ Their body belongs to them.
✨ They can say “No” even to people they like.
✨ Gifts and kindness don’t buy access to their body.
✨ They never need to earn the right to have boundaries.
✨ Respecting someone else’s “No” is just as important.
Whether it’s a boy or a girl, every child deserves to know:
🛑 NO is a complete sentence.
The earlier children learn body boundaries, the more confident they become in recognizing safe relationships, speaking up when uncomfortable, and respecting the boundaries of others.
What boundary lesson do you wish you had learned as a child?
