As part of our Induction Program 2026, IIEBM – Indus Business School had the privilege of hosting Capt. Ulhas Bodhankar, Senior Advisor, Sagarmitra Abhiyan, for a thought-provoking session titled — “Let’s Fall in Love with the Ocean: Going Beyond the Syllabus.”

The session offered our incoming students a powerful perspective on one of the most pressing global challenges — ocean health and plastic pollution — bridging scientific understanding with ethical responsibility and civic action.

Key highlights from the session:
Oceans generate 70% of Earth’s oxygen and absorb 90% of excess heat — yet remain the most overlooked part of our climate system.

14 million tons of plastic enter our oceans every year, silently destroying marine ecosystems.

The Sagarmitra 3-step student action model demonstrated how individual responsibility can drive collective environmental impact.

At IIEBM, we believe that true management education goes beyond textbooks. Sessions like these instil in our students the values of global citizenship, scientific temper, and responsible leadership — the very foundations of NEP 2020.

We are grateful to Capt. Ulhas Bodhankar and Sagarmitra Abhiyan for inspiring our students to think beyond the classroom and act as responsible global citizens.
