US-designated global terrorist Amir Hamza, co-founder and senior ideologue of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), was shot by unidentified gunmen in Lahore on April 16, 2026.

The attack occurred outside a local news channel office near Hamdard Chowk (Pindi stop) as Hamza returned home after recording a programme, accompanied by retired Pakistani judge Nazir Ahmad Ghazi. Two armed men on a motorcycle opened fire at his vehicle. Police launched a search and issued a high alert. Other occupants remained unharmed. No group claimed responsibility.

The US designated him a global terrorist in 2012. He has been linked to attacks including the 2005 Bengaluru IISc strike and broader LeT operations targeting India (e.g., 2008 Mumbai attacks). In 2018, he reportedly formed a new outfit, Jaish-e-Manqafa, after LeT bans. He also chairs Tehreek-e-Hurmat-e-Rasool Pakistan.

In a joint operation on April 5, 2026, Delhi Police Special Cell and Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested two Mumbai residents for allegedly plotting an Islamic State-inspired terror attack in Delhi using remote-controlled toy car bombs.

The suspects, identified as Mossab Ahdam alias Kalam Kalyan (also reported as Mosab Ahmed alias Kalam) and Mohammad Hamad Kollara (or Mohammad Hamad Kalra), were picked up from areas including Kurla and Khadavli/Kalyan in Mumbai. They have been brought to Delhi for interrogation.

Investigators claim both men were highly radicalised through online propaganda via networks such as “Mission Khilafat” and “Soldiers of Jihad”. They had alleged links to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), including contact with a handler (reportedly Abu Hufeiza posing as an IS recruiter on Telegram), and the Islamic State. The duo was reportedly learning to assemble IEDs and planning to conceal explosives in toy cars for an attack in the national capital.

Raids led to recovery of incriminating digital material and documents. No large cache of RDX or arms has been publicly detailed at this stage. The operation was part of a wider pan-India sweep against online radicalisation modules. Further probe is ongoing, with emphasis on handlers and broader network.

Muhammad Tahir Anwar, the elder brother of Masood Azhar, has reportedly died in Bahawalpur under unclear circumstances.

According to reports circulating from pro-group channels and intelligence sources, Anwar’s death has been confirmed, but the exact cause remains unknown. No official statement has been issued by Pakistani authorities clarifying whether the death was due to illness or any other reason.

Anwar was believed to be associated with the banned outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed and reportedly played a role within its internal structure, though details about his activities remain limited in the public domain.

Shabir Ahmed Lone, a trained Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist and key handler of the recently busted module behind the "Metro Poster case," has been arrested in the Ghazipur area of Delhi.
Lone, originally from Kangan in Srinagar (J&K), has a long history of terror links — previously arrested in 2007 with arms and later fleeing to Bangladesh after release. He allegedly maintained direct contacts with top LeT commanders including Hafiz Saeed and Zaki-ur-Rahman Lakhvi, and directed a network involving Bangladeshi operatives for pasting anti-India posters and scouting targets in Delhi and other cities.
