We are delighted to announce that Mr. Mark Kramer, Co-Author of the seminal Harvard Business Review article "Creating Shared Value" (Porter and Kramer, 2011), Co-Founder of FSG, and Senior Lecturer, Harvard Business School, will deliver an online keynote address at Strategic Management Forum (SMF) Conference 2026, themed "Creating Shared Value: Strategy for Competitiveness and Societal Progress," scheduled for December 10-12, 2026, at IIM Ranchi. The keynote will be open to all registered participants.

The conference invites research across nine tracks:
1. Strategy, Innovation and Creating Shared Value
2. Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource for Shared Value
3. Economics and Public Policy for Shared Value
4. Finance, Accounting and Sustainable Value Creation

IIM Ranchi observed the 12th International Day of Yoga with enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and staff members, reaffirming the importance of Yoga in promoting physical well-being, mental balance, and a healthy lifestyle. The theme for this year’s International Day of Yoga, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” highlighted the growing significance of Yoga in supporting healthy longevity, active living, and improved quality of life across all age groups.

The programme commenced with the live address of Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, at 6:30 AM, followed by a dedicated Yoga session at the IIM Ranchi campus.

During the programme, Dr. Anjesh Kumar, Nagar Sampark Pramukh, Vivekananda Kendra, Ranchi, highlighted the positive impact of Yoga on physical and mental well-being, emphasising its role in fostering discipline and concentration. The Yoga session was conducted by Dr. Vishwajit Verma, Assistant Professor, Sarala Birla University, Ranchi, and Shri Pradeep Kumar, Student, Ranchi University, who guided participants through various Yoga asanas and breathing practices while explaining their benefits for flexibility, strength, and overall wellness.

Addressing the gathering at the conclusion of the session, Prof. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, Director, IIM Ranchi, encouraged everyone to incorporate Yoga into their daily routine for a balanced and healthy lifestyle. He appreciated the efforts of the trainers and guests in successfully conducting the session and felicitated them for their valuable contribution.

The event was also graced by the presence of Prof. Jyoti Verma, Chairperson, Student Engagement and Development Committee (SEDC), Shri Divyanshu Pandey (Sah Nagar Pramukh) and Shri Prashant Kumar Shandilya (Nagar Sahitya Pramukh) from Vivekananda Kendra, Ranchi, along with members of the IIM Ranchi community.

Day 5 of Induction 2026 at IIM Ranchi featured insightful sessions on leadership, decision-making, personal branding, and self-awareness for the incoming MBA, MBA-HRM, MBA-BA, and PhD cohorts.

Major General Sajjan Singh Mann, General Officer Commanding, 23 Infantry Division, shared valuable lessons on leading under uncertainty, emphasising adaptability, teamwork, trust, and the importance of making timely decisions with available information.

Ms. Shini Gupta, Career and Emotional Wellness Coach and Founder, EQElevate, highlighted the role of self-awareness and personal branding in professional growth, encouraging students to build authentic identities rooted in their values, strengths, and contributions.

The day concluded with an interaction by Prof. Jyoti Verma, Chairperson, Student Engagement and Development Committee (SEDC), who introduced students to the vibrant ecosystem of clubs and committees at IIM Ranchi and encouraged active participation in campus life.

Day 4 of Induction 2026 at IIM Ranchi for the new cohorts of MBA, MBA-HRM, MBA-BA, and PhD programmes featured insightful sessions by distinguished speakers from global B-school networks, finance, and institutional leadership, offering students valuable perspectives on professional growth, leadership, ethics, and responsible conduct.

Ms. Shikha Taunk, Strategic Engagement Manager - India, AMBA & BGA, highlighted the importance of international accreditation, institutional reputation, sustainability, and developing a managerial mindset through active participation, networking, and community engagement. She also encouraged students to cultivate purposeful learning habits and make effective use of their time in the digital era.

Shri Neelotpal Sahai, Director - Indian Equities & Head Offshore Advisory, HSBC Asset Management, shared lessons from his professional journey across technology, finance, and investment management. Emphasising curiosity, resilience, lifelong learning, and decision-making under uncertainty, he encouraged students to focus on processes, learn from failures, and approach their careers with patience, discipline, and integrity.

The programme also included orientation sessions by Prof. Jyoti Verma, Chairperson - Student Engagement and Development Committee (SEDC), on the Institute’s Anti-Ragging Policy, and Prof. Shweta Jha, Chairperson - Internal Committee (IC), on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act and the importance of a safe and inclusive campus environment.

The day concluded with a session by Col. Tarun Kumar Jha (Retd.), Administrative Officer - Programme (I/C), who familiarised students with classroom etiquette, academic processes, attendance guidelines, and the functioning of the Academic Programme Office.

Prof. Sudipta Dasmohapatra, Senior Associate Dean, Georgetown University, USA, spoke on the evolving landscape of management education in an AI-driven world, highlighting the importance of adaptability, continuous learning, ethical decision-making, AI literacy, and human-centric skills such as communication, collaboration, and storytelling.

Shri Adhip Nath Palchaudhuri, Chairman & Managing Director, Balmer Lawrie & Co. Ltd., shared lessons from his professional journey, emphasising resilience, adaptability, continuous learning, and the value of embracing challenges and diverse opportunities for growth.

Prof. Neelu, Chairperson - International Relations, introduced students to the Student Exchange Programme (STEP) and other international initiatives at IIM Ranchi, encouraging them to leverage global exposure opportunities and international collaborations as part of their management education.

Swami Nikhileshwarananda, Adhyaksh, Shri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Rajkot, spoke on holistic management, emphasizing spiritual intelligence, self-mastery, servant leadership, and personal growth as essential dimensions of effective leadership.

Shri Jayant Saran, Partner at Deloitte, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP, encouraged students to make the most of their campus journey, highlighting the importance of adaptability, continuous learning, collaboration, and strong interpersonal skills in today’s evolving professional landscape.

Students were also introduced to key academic and research facilities, including the Center for Teaching with Artificial Intelligence (CTAI), the Finance Lab, and the Mind Lab.

The sessions inspired students to begin their academic journey with curiosity, resilience, ethical leadership, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
