This is one of the most important Statistics concepts for Data Science, Data Analytics, Machine Learning, and Research.

At first glance, Interval Data and Ratio Data look similar because both contain numbers.

But there's one major difference 👇

🔵 INTERVAL DATA

✔ Equal Intervals

❌ No True Zero

Examples:

🌡️ Temperature (°C)

📅 Calendar Years

Why?

0°C does NOT mean "no temperature".

The value exists, but it is not an absolute zero.

🟡 RATIO DATA

✔ Equal Intervals

✔ True Zero Exists

Examples:

💰 Salary

⚖️ Weight

📏 Height

🎂 Age

Why?

0 kg = No Weight

0 Salary = No Income

0 cm = No Height

A true zero exists.
