Second Day of Y-SMILES Health Screening Programme Held at SPHSS
The second day of the Y-SMILES (Youth Screening Initiative through a Million Health Educated Students) Health Screening Programme was successfully conducted at SP Model Higher Secondary School under the guidance of the Health and Wellness Club.
The programme continued its mission of promoting preventive healthcare, early detection of health risks, and healthy lifestyle awareness among students. Health profiling, anthropometric measurements, and risk assessment procedures were carried out as part of the screening process.
Under the leadership of the Principal Aijaz Ahmad Reshi, meticulous arrangements were made to ensure the smooth conduct of the programme. Counselling Session Conducted under NMBA at SPHSS
As part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), a counselling session was conducted at S.P. Model Higher Secondary School under the guidance of Ms. Sheeba Mohi-ud-Din.The session aimed to create awareness among students about the harmful effects of substance abuse and to promote a healthy, responsible, and drug-free lifestyle.
During the session, students were sensitized about the physical, psychological, social, and academic consequences of drug addiction. They were encouraged to develop positive coping strategies, make informed decisions, and resist negative peer pressure. The interactive session provided students with an opportunity to express their concerns and seek guidance on issues affecting their well-being.
The programme witnessed active participation from students, who pledged to stay away from drugs and contribute towards building a drug-free society. Participation in “Sunday on Cycle” under Fit India Movement 2026
As per the directions issued by the Office of the District Youth Services & Sports Officer, Srinagar, under the Fit India Movement Calendar of Activities 2026, a Cyclothon titled “Sunday on Cycle” was organized today on 07 June 2026 from SKICC Main Gate to Nishat Garden to promote physical fitness, a healthy lifestyle, environmental awareness, and the use of bicycles for sustainable living.
Students of S.P. Model Higher Secondary School, Srinagar actively participated in the event under the able guidance and supervision of Mr. Dilbagh Singh, Head of the Sports Faculty. Through his encouragement and motivation, the students enthusiastically joined the Cyclothon and demonstrated their commitment towards the ideals of fitness, discipline, and sportsmanship.
The event witnessed active participation from students and sports staff from various institutions across the district. The Cyclothon commenced from SKICC Main Gate at 7:00 a.m. and concluded at Nishat Garden, where participants were felicitated for their enthusiastic involvement.
The participation of SPHSS students reflected the school's continued commitment to promoting physical well-being and fostering awareness about healthy living among the youth. The students completed the ride with great zeal and discipline, bringing laurels to the institution through their active involvement in this important fitness initiative.
