A tribute to Janet Gail Henry š¤
We remember Janet Gail Henry, a beautiful mother, sister, daughter, & friend from the āNamgis First Nation. Janet was 36, she had two beautiful daughters, who have given her three precious grandchildren - Janetās sister has shared she would be so incredibly proud of them.
Janet loved animals & her music.
Tragically, the last time her family spoke to Janet was June 25, 1997. As this painful anniversary approaches we are thinking of her loved oneās left behind.
Janet disappeared from Vancouverās Downtown Eastside. Her identification was later found on Robert Picktonās farm, & her case is widely believed to be connected to the serial killer - though it has never been formally proven in court & officially remains unsolved.
Janet, your light was taken far too soon, but it continues to shine through your family & every voice that speaks your name.
To Sandra & the entire family - thank you for sharing Janetās story. Your strength & love are felt deeply. You are not alone. š Rest in peace, beautiful soul. We will never forget you.

UPDATE: Jamie Varley has been found guilty of the murder of 13 month old Preston Davey, along with multiple SA, child cruelty, & indecent image offences.
His partner, John McGowan-Fazakerley, was convicted of causing or allowing the childās death, plus related cruelty & SA charges.
Preston Davey was only 13 months oldšŖ½
Adopted in April 2023 by Jamie Varley (37) & John McGowan-Fazakerley (32) after time in foster care, this precious boy endured a horrifying four month ordeal.
Prosecutors say he suffered around 40 injuries - including bruising, fractures, & internal trauma - while being repeatedly abused, assaulted, & exploited, with indecent images & videos taken of him.
Preston died in hospital on 27 July 2023.
The jury delivered guilty verdicts this week after hearing overwhelming evidence. Both men will be sentenced today, Thursday 18 June, at Preston Crown Court.
This case is absolutely heartbreaking & exposes devastating failures in protecting vulnerable children. Preston deserved safety, love, & a bright future - not this unimaginable cruelty.
We remember you, sweet boy. Your name will not be forgotten. š

No justice can ever replace what she lost š
Kinsleigh Welty was only 5 years old - a little girl who should have been starting school, laughing with friends, & living a carefree childhood. Instead, her short life ended in unimaginable suffering.
On 9 Apr 2024, Kinsleigh passed away at Riley Childrenās Hospital. She was found severely malnourished & neglected - locked in a closet surrounded by filth, with little to no food or water. At just five, she weighed less than she had at age two. Her tiny body told the story of prolonged starvation & abuse.
Her āmotherā Toni McClure & āgrandmotherā Tammy Halsey now face charges including murder & neglect of a dependent resulting in death. Toniās boyfriend allegedly knew what was happening but did nothing to help.
Family members say Indianaās Department of Child Services (DCS) had warning signs but failed to protect her. This wasnāt sudden - it was prolonged tortur⬠that a child known to the system should never have endured.
Kinsleigh deserved love, safety, food, warmth, & comfort - not a locked door & silence.
Her story is a heartbreaking reminder that child abuse thrives when systems fail, when people look away, & when the smallest voices go unheard. Let her name inspire change, not just outrage.
Speak up. Ask questions. Protect the children. Never look away. šļøš
Remembering Ashlynne Mike šø
11 Nov 2004 ā 3 May 2016. A tragedy that sparked real change.
Ashlynne was a bright 11 year old Navajo girl & fifth-grader who loved playing the xylophone in her school band. On May 2, 2016, after getting off the school bus in Lower Fruitland, New Mexico (Navajo Nation), Ashlynne & her 9 year old brother Ian were walking home when a man lured them into his van with the promise of watching Zootopia.
Instead of safety, they faced horror. They were abducted. Ashlynne was SA, & brutal!y murdered with a tire iron in a remote desert area near Shiprock. Her little brother Ian was left in a different remote area but thankfully survived after being found by a passerby.
Ashlynneās body was discovered the morning of May 3. This precious girlās light was stolen far too soon. š
The case exposed devastating systemic failures: a multi-hour delay in issuing an Amber Alert because the Navajo Nation lacked an active system, compounded by jurisdictional confusion between tribal police, the FBI, & state authorities. Hours that could have made a difference were lost.
Ashlynneās legacy lives on. Her mother Pamela Foster & father Gary Mike channelled their pain into advocacy, helping pass the Ashlynne Mike AMBER Alert in Indian Country Act in 2018. This federal law provides funding & support for tribal communities to build & integrate emergency alert systems - protecting countless children today.
Tom Begaye Jr. pleaded guilty & was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Ashlynne, we remember you. Your life mattered. Your story continues to break the silence & push for stronger child protection across all communities - better alerts, faster responses, no more deadly gaps, & real accountability.
Abuse & injustice thrive in silence. We will not be silent. Letās keep advocating for every childās right to be safe.

Before Blake & London, they were Trenton & Moriah š
Two children -who became siblings removed from their biological families & placed into what should have been a safe home - were failed by the very system meant to protect them.
Their birth names were Trenton Dewayne Shuler (known to the world as Blake Julian Trenton Deven) & Moriah Elizabeth Foster (known as London Deven).
I recently spoke with Trentonās biological mother, who has been fighting for years. Hereās what she wanted the world to know:
āI just want it to be known it wasnāt from a lack of trying or wanting my children. Iām still here, fighting for them. Iām hoping to have contact with Trentonās brothers, who are now back in foster care since their adopterās arrest. Iām also so tired of people calling this monster their mother after everything that happened. She stole his identity & stripped him of the life he - & Moriah - deserved. The world may know them as Blake & London, but their names were Trenton & Moriah.ā
Trenton & Moriah were adopted by Avantae Deven. What followed was years of unimaginable abuse, starvation & cruelty. Their young lives were stolen, their remains later found in horrific conditions, concealed in a barrel. (Note: Trenton/Blake was last seen around 2017 when he was only 11 years old - his adoptive āmotherā had reportedly tried to claim it was 2022 to throw off investigators.)
This case exposed deep failures in North Carolinaās foster care & adoption system. Trenton & Moriah deserved love, safety, & a full life.
Rest in peace, sweet angels. We will not let your story be forgotten. Justice must be served.
Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against Avantae Deven.
Justice for Trenton Shuler aka Blake Deven
Justice for Trenton aka Blake Deven and HIS Brothers
A video I previously put together, please note Trenton was last seen alive 2017 not 2022 which was initially reported: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/182YYDhoYp/?mibextid=wwXIfr
Remembering Sarai Perez-RiverašŖ½
Little 3 year old Sarai was a happy, playful toddler who loved dancing & bringing joy to everyone around her. Her family remembers her as āso sweet, so playful, cute, always dancing.ā Tragically, in Kapolei, Hawaii, behind closed doors she endured unimaginable suffering from starvation & dehydration.
Saraiās āmotherā, Janae Perez, & her girlfriend, Ashleigh Utley, were arrested & charged with second-degree murder & other felonies related to child abuse & neglect (they have pleaded not guilty & await further proceedings). Family members tried to report concerns multiple times, but systemic failures left these innocent children without the help they desperately needed.
Saraiās siblings are now in protective custody.
This precious baby should still be here, laughing & dancing. Her story is a heartbreaking reminder that abuse thrives in silence & that we must keep speaking out for stronger child protection systems, better responses to reports, & accountability.
Rest in peace, beautiful Sarai. You are remembered. You are loved. Your life mattered. šļø
Thank you Lisa for sharing her name with me.

Today marks 18 years since June 16, 2008 - the day little Caylee Marie Anthony was last seen alive. š
No one has ever been held accountable for her death. Only one person was ever charged, as thatās where all the evidence pointed. Not being found guilty does not mean innocent. It simply means the prosecution could not prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt - made incredibly difficult by the advanced state of decomposition when her remains were found.
Caylee was missing for 31 days. The last person with her was her āmotherā. Caylee is the victim in this story.
In her honour, Iām running a special 31 day tribute on the Caylee Sunshine page (You Are My Sunshine was one of Cayleeās favourite songs). Each day on that page Iāll share an original photo alongside an enhanced version to flood feeds with her sweet face & ensure she is remembered. Iāll also share it to my stories here with a link.
Caylee, you are loved & missed every single day. No justice for Caylee. š

HUGE VICTORY for child safety in Arizona šš
The Alec & Lydia Act has officially PASSED & is now headed to Governor Hobbsā desk for signature. š
This bill was born from the unimaginable pain of losing two beautiful children, Alec & Lydia. Their mother, Hope, poured her heart & soul into turning that tragedy into meaningful change - fighting for family court reform & stronger protections for children & domestic violence victims.
This is what real advocacy looks like. One step closer to ensuring other children donāt fall through the cracks.
Child safety is not political - it is a human issue.
Today we celebrate this win with Hope & every advocate who stood beside her. Arizona is leading the way, & this legacy will save lives for generations.
Please share this post far & wide to help keep the momentum going, show support for Alec & Lydiaās memory. šš
