The Mig-age project workshop took place at the University of Groningen on May 7 and 8, 2026.
The teams discussed data analysis and the production of the documentary, which will be presented at the final conference in spring 2027.

Moving from ancient archaeological sites to spice shops, our ethnographic and documentary journey through Turkey has come to an end. Thank you to those who accompanied us on our journey to discover what it means to grow old as migrants in these places and who will soon be among the protagonists of the documentary MIG-AGE!

Heads up: we're filming! Our Turkish, Italian, German and Dutch teams are out in the fields these days, between Antalya and Alanya, in Turkey. They are meeting some of the people who will become the protagonists of the MIG-AGE documentary.

On 8 and 9 September 2025, the Italian team was invited to discuss the MIG-AGE project at the University of Pavia, during the final conference of the TAIA project of national interest, ‘Transnational Aging Between Italy and Africa’. Although offering a different geographical perspective, MIG-AGE opens up significant and interesting comparisons with TAIA, which in turn compares the experiences of migration and ageing among groups of economic migrants and retirement migrants

The MIG-AGE project could not miss an international opportunity such as the 22nd IMISCOE Annual Conference. Representatives from the Turkish, Italian and Dutch teams met at the conference in Paris to present the initial results gathered from walking interviews and to exchange ideas with other researchers who share similar methodologies and research interests.
