From Beautiful Ideas to an Interior Design Portfolio

At IELFS, we are updating the learning experience across our Interior Design programs.

The focus today is not only on watching lessons, but on creating practical projects that gradually become part of a future designer’s portfolio.

During the programs, students learn how to work with real interior design tasks:

analyzing spaces, developing concepts, selecting styles, colors, materials, furniture and décor, and presenting projects professionally.

Throughout the learning process, students create portfolio projects such as:

• Two apartment layouts for real residential spaces

• A room color palette

• A concept plan for a real apartment

• A sourcing map of interior stores for furniture, décor and materials

Students in the 1-Year Interior Design Diploma and Commercial Interior Design programs additionally create commercial design projects, including:

• Café interior concepts

• Office interiors

• Clothing boutique concepts

• Beauty salon interiors

By the end of the program, students have more than theoretical knowledge — they develop visual projects that can become part of a professional portfolio, be shown to future clients or included in job applications.

In mentor-guided formats, students receive immediate access to the video lessons after enrollment and may begin studying right away.

From the mentor-guided start date, a mentor becomes part of the learning process: students complete practical assignments, submit projects and receive detailed professional feedback.

Homework and practical projects are reviewed twice a week.

Students can choose the program that fits their goals:

• Interior Design from Scratch — for beginners

• 1-Year Interior Design Diploma — for deeper preparation in residential and commercial interiors

• Commercial Interior Design — for cafés, boutiques, offices, restaurants and beauty salons

• Interior Decorator — focused on styling, color, décor, atmosphere and interior details

How a Stylist Can Work Online Worldwide 🌍

The role of a stylist has evolved far beyond in-person shopping trips and local consultations. Today, fashion professionals can work with clients anywhere in the world, offering personalized style guidance entirely online.

Modern stylists help clients through:

- Virtual wardrobe reviews via video calls and photos
- Personalized style books with outfit ideas and shopping recommendations
- Online personal shopping tailored to a client’s location, budget, and lifestyle
- Live fitting-room consultations through video chat
- Capsule wardrobe creation for work, travel, relocation, dating, and personal branding
- Ongoing monthly styling support to help clients implement their new image confidently

This digital approach benefits both clients and stylists. Clients gain access to expert fashion advice regardless of location, while stylists can build flexible, international careers without being tied to a specific city.

The future of styling is global, digital, and more accessible than ever.

Who is a men's wardrobe stylist and why are men increasingly willing to pay for their appearance

Until just a few years ago, many men approached clothing with an "as long as it's comfortable" mindset, and consulting a stylist seemed unnecessary or reserved only for celebrities. Today, the situation is changing rapidly because appearance increasingly influences career opportunities, relationships, confidence, and first impressions.

This is precisely why the profession of men's wardrobe stylist is becoming more and more in demand.
What the statistics say

According to research among men aged 25+, 68% of men have started paying more attention to their appearance than five years ago, and 51% admitted they now spend more money on grooming and appearance than before.

Who is a men's wardrobe stylist

This is a specialist who helps a man look modern, status-appropriate, and suitable for his specific lifestyle, without turning him into a "fashionista for fashion's sake."
The task of such a stylist is to build a wardrobe that works for the person: it highlights their physical strengths, aligns with their lifestyle, and helps create the desired impression.

They can help with:
• Creating a style for business and career
• Updating a wardrobe after a promotion or job change
• Selecting clothing after weight loss or body changes
• Making an image more confident and contemporary
• Curating pieces without unnecessary purchases
• Preparing a style for dating, public speaking, or public appearances

Why men are willing to pay for this
The modern man understands that clothing is a professional tool.
A polished appearance helps one look more confident, be perceived more seriously, make a strong first impression, and save time on mistaken purchases.
This service is especially in demand among entrepreneurs, executives, high-income professionals, and men going through divorce, relocation, or career advancement.

What a stylist does in practice
This is not just shopping trips. The work may include wardrobe analysis, creating capsule collections, online consultations, accompanied shopping, and curating looks for work, vacations, events, and photo shoots.

Potential earnings

Europe
• €2,500 – €6,000+ per month

UAE and Arab countries
• $4,000 – $10,000+ when working with affluent clientele

Why this is an interesting profession
This field combines style, psychology, interpersonal work, and solid income. It is especially suitable for those who enjoy fashion, men's style, and the desire to help people change how they are perceived.
Today, men are increasingly investing not only in watches and cars but also in their personal image. This is precisely why demand for skilled specialists is growing.

Why Interior Phyto-Designers Are in Demand Right Now 🪴

Just a few years ago, many people viewed plants in interior spaces as simple decor—placing a single flower by the window and considering the design complete. Today, attitudes have shifted significantly: people no longer want just furniture and renovations; they seek living spaces where it feels pleasant to relax, work, and spend time.
This is precisely why the profession of interior phyto-designer is becoming increasingly sought-after.

A phyto-designer is a specialist who styles spaces using plants so that the environment looks stylish, harmonious, and contemporary, while ensuring the plants truly suit the lighting conditions, maintenance requirements, and the client's goals.

Why demand is growing now
With the rise of remote work and a more home-centered lifestyle, people have become far more attentive to the atmosphere around them. Home has transformed from merely a place of rest into a space for work, socializing, and recharging.

Consequently, more and more people want interiors that evoke freshness, calm, and comfort.
Living plants help create exactly this effect.
Where phyto-designer services are especially in demand
Today, specialists are needed not only for apartments and houses.

Phyto-designers are frequently invited to style:
• offices
• cafes and restaurants
• beauty salons
• hotels
• retail stores
• showrooms
• private homes and terraces

Businesses also recognize that an attractive space influences client perception.
Why you can't just buy a few plants
Many have tried arranging plants on their own, only to find that the interior looks cluttered or that some plants quickly die.

A phyto-designer addresses this professionally:
• selects plants suited to specific lighting conditions
• considers the interior's style
• creates compositions and focal points
• chooses appropriate planters
• makes the space look more upscale and cozy
• plans for maintenance and long-term viability

Earning potential
Income depends on the work format: private projects, offices, restaurants, ongoing maintenance contracts, consultations.

On average:
Europe
• €2,000 – €4,000+ per month

UAE and Arab countries
• $3,000 – $6,000+ when working with premium properties

Why this is a promising field right now
This profession blends interior design, aesthetics, nature, and the modern demand for beautiful environments. It's an excellent path for those who love design and plants and want to work in a high-demand niche.
Today, people increasingly invest not just in square footage, but in the feeling of life within a space. That is precisely why phyto-designers are needed far more than one might think.
