What happens when children stop being tourists and start being explorers?
They stop asking:
"How much longer?"
And start asking:
"What's next?"
This is our Colosseum mission – a self-guided family adventure that turns sightseeing into a game.
Because the best souvenir from Rome isn't something you buy.
It's watching your child light up with joy.

The Circus Maximus can be hard for kids to imagine today. A huge grassy space… and not much else.
But once they can picture the races, everything changes.
We’ve put together our favourite ways to bring the Circus Maximus alive for kids — including a FREE TrovaTrails Scorpus Charioteer Card to get them into the story before you visit.

Rome wasn’t built by sitting still.
It was built by testing, failing, and figuring things out.
This hands-on STEM workshop lets kids do the same.
At TrovaTrails, we’re on a mission to turn history from passive listening into hands-on learning.
They’ll build, experiment, and think like Roman engineers — giving them a new way to see and understand the buildings around them.

Pedal-powered adventure in Villa Borghese.
Let them take the wheel, race through the park, and burn off energy before diving into history.
Because exploring Rome with kids shouldn’t mean “walk quietly and don’t touch”…
it should mean move, play, discover.
Start with a mission. Let them lead the adventure.

School holidays mean work happens around the edges of family life — but honestly, that’s where TrovaTrails was born in the first place.
Monopoly is still a family favourite (especially on a rainy day). Play is crucial to children’s development, and this timeless classic still delivers: maths, negotiation, strategy, connection… and a healthy dose of patience.
Some things are worth making time for.

Our work started with a belief that children learn best through curiosity, story, and play.
So being highly commended at the Bett Awards 2026 — the UK’s leading education technology awards — felt like encouragement that there’s still space for this kind of learning.
Being surrounded by other founders and people working thoughtfully in education was energising.
Rome is extraordinary.
Extraordinary, but intense.
But city trips need to be balanced with play.
Play isn’t extra.
It’s fundamental to children’s development.
Sometimes that space looks like a park, a playground…
and sometimes it looks like snow, just 1.5 hours from Rome.
Monte Terminillo is where locals go for a snow day.
Make room for play.

That cheesy stretch? It’s the mark of a true Roman supplì — and the perfect quick bite for hungry kids between adventures.
You’ll find them in most pizzerias, usually in classic ragù (meat) or gooey mozzarella versions — an easy, affordable lifesaver for families exploring Rome on the go.
