📢 BIG CHANGES: New English Levels for UK & Jersey Immigration 🇬🇧🇯🇪
If you’re planning to call the UK or Jersey home, it’s time to pull your socks up! As of March 2026, the Home Office has raised the bar for English fluency. Don’t get caught out by the new rules—here is the "need-to-know" for every ESOL student:

1️⃣ Permanent Settlement (ILR) 🏡
The biggest shift! To settle for good, the requirement has jumped from B1 to CEFR B2 (Upper-Intermediate). Think of it as moving from GCSE level to A-Level.
You'll need to master all four skills: Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening.

2️⃣ Working Visas 💼
Starting a new job? Skilled Worker and Scale-up visas now also require B2 proficiency. If you’re already here on a work visa, check the "grace period" rules before you apply for your next extension!

3️⃣ Family & Partner Visas 💍
The "Step-Up" rule is still in play here: A1 for your first application, A2 for your extension (after 2.5 years), and B2 when you finally apply for settlement.

4️⃣ British Citizenship 👑
To get that blue passport, you’ll need B1 or B2 (Speaking and Listening)
Plus the "Life in the UK" test. In Jersey?
