A must-try onigiri spot in Kyoto! 🍙✨
Do you like onigiri? I used to think of it as just a simple snack or something quick to eat since I always made basic wakame onigiri at home.
But after trying the onigiri here, I realized that what I’d been eating all my life barely counted as onigiri. 😂 Seriously, it was that good.
This place is one of the most popular onigiri shops around Kawaramachi, one of Kyoto’s most famous areas. If you’re exploring Kyoto, definitely stop by and give it a try.
And if you’re putting together a little picnic or bento for the day, grab a few onigiri from here and take them with you. 🍙🌿
Trust me they’re so good! 😋✨

What I love the most about Japanese TV programs:
🥰📣 A lot of programs come with Japanese subtitles.
It’s a win for Japanese learners, because you get to learn new vocabulary and kanji in real contexts!
🥰📣 Many programs show different sides of Japanese local life, culture, and daily routines, from villages to city life.
Learning about Japan feels more fun!

My favorite menu at Komeda’s Coffee! ☕️✨
Have you ever tried the Miso Katsu Sandwich? It honestly feels like getting three giant burgers at once and it’s so good.
You know Japanese miso, right? They coat a crispy pork cutlet with rich miso sauce and serve it as a sandwich. The first time I tried it, I completely fell in love with it. 😂
When I was really into it, I think I ate it almost once a week. There are plenty of Komeda’s Coffee locations in Kyoto too. Since it’s such a student city, you’ll usually find one near a university campus. 😂
Highly recommend giving it a try if you’re in Japan! 🇯🇵✨

Kyoto Aquarium! So many adorable sea creatures 🐧🐬✨
I recently visited Kyoto Aquarium, and at first I thought it would be just another aquarium. But it was actually so charming and well-designed, and it was really heartwarming to see the strong bond between the trainers and the animals.
The dolphins were especially adorable, and watching their interactions with the trainers was such a joy. I highly recommend visiting if you’re in Kyoto! 🐬💙✨

Last month, on my way home from school, I found a tap card (specifically a PASMO card) lying on the road. It was inside a lanyard card holder, and the owner’s name was clearly written on the card. It looked like a card that was used daily, so the owner must have accidentally dropped it and been looking for it everywhere.
In the past, I’ve lost several valuable items in Japan, and every time, someone returned them to the police. Thanks to that, I was always able to get my belongings back. 𝗦𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗜 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗽 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗱, 𝗜 𝗸𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗼 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁. This was my first time returning a lost item to the police, and 𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲. Here are a few things I’d like to share.
✨ What kind of general information did the police ask for? ✨
1. The location where I found the item
2. The approximate time when I found it
3. My name, full address, and phone number (I had to fill out a form)
🤔📣𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗲 (𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴)? 🤔📣
𝟭. 𝗜𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺, 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲, 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 (𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺)?
𝟮. 𝗪𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂?
𝟯. 𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿?
𝟰. 𝗜𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝟱%–𝟮𝟬% 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱. 𝗪𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝘁?
𝟱. 𝗜𝗳 𝗻𝗼 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘀, 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀. 𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁?
Of course for all five questions, you are completely free to say no.
Although Japanese law allows you to say yes, I’ve heard that most Japanese people decline these options because of the culture of 遠慮 (enryo), which emphasizes modesty and restraint.
Returning a lost item was a really interesting experience for me as a foreigner living in Japan. Do you have such experience? Let me know in the comment!

Not a paid promotion at all, just genuinely sharing something I think pretty cool from Japanese culture I found in Kyoto 🥁✨
I just found out about DRUM TAO, a Japanese taiko drum group that mixes traditional drumming with modern performances. Their roots come from Japan’s taiko culture, but the way they present it feels really fresh and powerful. They even have a permanent theater in Kyoto, near Kyoto Avanti Hachijōguchi, just in case you want to watch their performances!
