The Friendly Hive Pre-school

What's buzzing at the Friendly Hive, you ask? Well, this Friday the 16th, we went swimming! It was an all colors affair as our kids donned pretty multi-colored swimming gear ready and excited for the beautiful sunny day.
The break time bell rang at 9:30am. "Take out your snacks!" The teacher instructed. Pre-schoolers darted across the classroom on to the "bags" section and took out their snack packs like clockwork; though, I will admit, there was more chatter than actual eating. "Costume yangu ni ya blue and pink! One kid yelled.
"Yangu ni ya rainbow colors!" Another one retorted. The clock ran unusually fast.
"Come on, time to change into our costumes." The teacher quietly ordered. Desks dragging, lively charter and "yaaaaaaays!" resounding across the hall, the kids got ready, one by one.
"Okay, every body set?" The teacher asked.
"Yeeeeeees!" The excited children responded.
"Good! Now make a line and follow me to the car." The teacher instructed again. Head count in. Ready. Set. Go!
We arrived at our heavenly destination. A mini, Disney land, if you would. One set up to boot with kid's play and adventure. It didn't take much time for the excited kids to jump into the kiddie pool! Splash! "Teacher look at this One, he's splashing in my eye!" Yelled a student.
"Hey! Hey! Stop that! Behave!" The teacher responded...and they did.
By the time it was one pm. Everyone was freezing and some had runny noses. They had played in the water to their fill since the instructor wasn't coming in.
Haidhuru! All I kept hearing was "That was so much fun!"
"Okay, now everyone out of the pool. We're gonna dry out and change into our school uniforms and go back to school for some lunch." Said the teacher.
The kids lined up as instructed and got changed and safely into the car. Another head count and off they were back to school for lunch.
After lunch the kids fell onto their desks one by one. It was nap time! A much deserved one after the much exhausting play in the water.
Homework for the weekend was readied in their diaries and in no time, the bell rang. Home time!
"Time to get up! Yes, yes up! Okay, now line up!" The groggy kids lined up one by one after putting their exercise books, tablets and diaries in their back packs and on to their bags.
"Does everyone have their water bottles?" Asked the teacher. A resounding but low tone "yeeeees!" emerged from the kid's mouths. The gates flew open as the parents picked their kids one by one.
"Mommy today I swam like a fish!" Said one happy kid.
"Mommy today we played in the water." Yelled another. As the teachers went back into their classrooms to arrange their desks and prepare the next week's plan, they couldn't help but smile. A successful, fun, outdoors trip with no hiccups and really happy kids at the end of the day.
"Enyewe leo ni Friday!" One teacher happily reported.
"Indeed", another teacher responded. "Today was a good day!"
