Anyone who learnt in those days will tell you how hard it was to share classrooms or even a school with those people who could do anything to you and you had nothing to say or do. Reporting them to a teacher was the most heinous crime one could do because doing that would mean you are inviting them for another war outside school. So you had to keep quiet and persevere, thinking about what they will do to you next.
I remember one day a guy came with a cup to ask for sugar. He demanded "wacha niweke vijiko mbili" and he was faithful enough to do just that. But after that, things took another turn; he took the sugar remaining in the container and left the two spoons of sugar in the cup for the owner of the sugar and walked away like nothing had happened.
What did they do to you and how did you cope with such situations?
