"Open Science is not a luxury trend; it is a necessity for continental development."
True research equity requires sustainable digital systems. Through initiatives like our Open Infrastructure programs and the Africa PID Alliance, we are actively changing this narrative. By scaling persistent identifiers and open knowledge containers, we ensure African research is permanently discoverable, trackable, and locally owned.
When we remove financial paywalls from scientific data, we empower local innovators to build immediate, data-driven solutions for continental challenges.
We work closely with regional institutions to build a cohesive, open-access research ecosystem across the continent.

In an era where misinformation spreads faster than evidence, science communication has never been more critical.
We look forward to Harrison Weda joining the panel discussion on “Science Communication and Public Trust in the Age of Misinformation” — a timely conversation on how researchers, institutions, media, and communicators can work together to strengthen public trust in science and evidence-informed decision-making.
As Africa advances Open Science, digital research infrastructure, and equitable knowledge systems, we must also ensure that scientific information is accessible, credible, contextualized, and trusted by the communities it is intended to serve.
The discussion will explore:
🔹 The growing impact of misinformation on research and society
🔹 Why trust is central to effective science communication
🔹 The role of Open Science and transparency in strengthening credibility
🔹 How institutions and researchers can communicate evidence more effectively
🔹 Building inclusive and locally relevant knowledge ecosystems across Africa
Science communication is no longer optional — it is foundational to research visibility, public engagement, policy uptake, and societal impact.
We look forward to engaging with fellow panelists and participants on how we can collectively strengthen public trust in science across Africa and beyond.
